I had a very difficult time getting this upgrade to take.

I had 2.7.1.0 on the TI and on my PC (Dell Latitude D820 running Vista Ulimate).

The Virus would lock up about 1/3 of the way through the update and after multiple attempts it was looking bad. For a time, the PC wouldn't even see the Virus over USB.

The solution (for me) was to go to the audiodriver folder and manually reinstall the drivers, then load Virus Control Center and do the OS Update from there.

After 2 or 3 tries using the Control Center app, it finally finished. There seems to be some miscommunication between the Virus hardware and the PC and it gets out of sync and locks up.

Has anyone else had these problems doing updates?

(I bought this Virus with 2.5 on it and only had minor trouble (1 restart) upgrading to 2.7.1).

hey oldgearguy, welcome to the forum.
I just updated my ti this morning. Hadn't touched any of the betas prior to this. The update actually went pretty smoothly.

Can you post a little more detail about your sytem's setup?

Not much concerning the upgrade -- the D820 is plugged into a docking station, the Virus TI has a dedicated USB port on the docking station. I keep the OS (Vista Ultimate) updated regularly. When I attempted the upgrade, nothing else was running - no browser, no Outlook, no other apps. 4GB of memory, plenty of CPU horsepower. My observation is the TI (desktop) locks up. The cycling LEDs in the transpose area freeze, the progress bar on the upgrade stops and nothing happens. I left it for over an hour, just to see the first time and it never unfroze.

The message on the TI screen said update failed (after the reboot) and to rerun the Installer. So I restarted the .MSI file, selected 'repair', and got to a similar lock up point. Repeat with various modifications in the procedure for the better part of an afternoon.

The TI BIOS is 1.03 (is that the latest?)

I never uninstalled the installer and started from scratch. As a general question -- do/did people see lockups like this in general? I do a lot of beta testing for synths, but I didn't have my testing hat on for this. In the future I'll be a bit more methodical.

BTW - thanks for the welcome. So far it's a fun machine and brings something different to the table compared to my other gear.

if it is still giving you issues, one thing to try - uninstall the ti software and drivers. then disconnect the laptop from the docking station and then try the installation again, this time directly connecting the ti to the laptop. Even if it doesn't make a difference, at least now you will have removed the docking station as a possible culprit.

I installed the new update but my VST DLL,s still say 2.7.1.0. I uninstalled then reinstalled again and also deleted the prior DLL,s but they still come up as 2.7.1.0. Am i overlooking something or did Access forget to change the version # on the DLL,s?

still have the problem with "hanging" notes on some occasions.

have to press the midi panic button way too often.

any clue where this comes from and how to work around this?

psy, I used to have this happen a lot with the older versions of the OS, but haven't really had to use the panic button since updating to 2.5 and now with 2.7.2. What daw are you using? Also, are you using the usb connection for audio and midi or separate midi and audio connections? If memory serves me correctly, simply switching usb ports seemed to have solved a lot of my hanging note problems (prior to upgrading to 2.5)

same here. OS says v2.7.2.0 and DLL says v2.7.1.0 ... just wondering why the file date is 2008-04-26 ?! :)

... but as long as virus control not complains about version conflict, no need to worry.

Ahhh.... that panic button is my best friend at the moment. Without that little bugger my notes would be all over the place....
