View Full Version : Using Atomizer for something other than glitch.

I do not do glitch style music. I want to use the atomizer feature. I guess I am waiting on a brilliant idea to get some mileage out of it.

When I dial it up, I tweak a drum loop, or a vocal and it doesn't fit my style too well. I do psyprogressive techy stuff.

Please share your experiences with Atomizer for some fresh ideas.

that's my favourite glitch: http://illformed.org/blog/glitch/
... it's pattern can be automated via MIDI, too.

question is just: how to make atomizer patches, which do similar stuff?

I am been enjoying vocals through Atomizer. Creating my own Atomizer patches is showing to be bit tricky. Any one here made any great atomizer patches, that sound unique, and unlike the preset patches?

Try this --

go into Edit on the Virus. Set Pitch Bend to -64, +63 (Common 3/3)

Hook up an output from your TV to the Right Input. Make sure the Surround setting are Off and -64.

Turn on Atomizer from the Edit menu. You should hear your TV coming through one or both channels (depending on if you wired up L&R or just one of them or followed the above advice).

Press some of the keys to verify that it's working and looping.

Now the fun - change the Atomizer setting from On to 4.

Hold down C3 - you should hear a metallic/buzzy version of the TV signal. While still holding C3, move the pitch bend wheel up slowly. Kind of fun, but nothing earth shattering.

Release the pitch bender and C3. Press C3 again and slowly move the pitch bender downwards. Now that's more fun and interesting and useful.

Let everything go, change the Atomizer setting to 16 and repeat the above. Both upward and downward bends produce some fun and interesting results.

Try pressing the D1 key (reverse audio) while moving the pitch bender and trying different loop lengths (C4, C2, etc).

I tried using some of the effects and the phaser (with lots of feedback) and the chorus (as a flanger - very short delay time with lots of feedback) to be nice effects on top of the sonics coming from the Atomizer.

I hope that helps open up some possibilities for you.

Thanks oldgearguy, that's really interesting! Gotta check it later, I'm at work ATM ;)
