View Full Version : Bootup Problem?

I have noticed that when I first turn on my TI on any day, it seems to boot up correctly but it does not make any sound at all. I then turn it off, and the three leds for the oscillators are still blinking. I turn it on again, and everything works fine. Subsequent reboots that day will all work correctly. Does anyone have any ideas about what might be happening? I have a very, very vague suspicion that it may be related to the usb cable being plugged in, even though I don't think that the computer at the other end is always on. I have recently upgraded the OS to 2.7.3, but I don't know if the problem was occurring before that.

Never seen that one before. 2.73 is working here with no snags yet. I did notice the smooth pulsating led above the transpose buttons. I think that was purposeful though.

The middle red led just above the transpose buttons now blinks on slowly to indicate that the Virus is in standby mode.

It did it again yesterday! It booted up, but there was now sound. I turned it off, and the three white LEDs for the LFOs where still blinking! I then turned it on again and everything worked fine. Has no one else experienced this?

I am still seeing this issue with OS 2.7.5. It happens only after the TI goes for longer than a couple of days without use. I have also noticed that I can tell if no sound will come out because all three of the white LFO LEDs will slowly blink in unison. When I turn the power off, they will still be blinking! When I power it up again, the LFO LEDs will blink normally, according to the selected patch, and the TI will produce the expected sound. Has no one encountered this?

I contacted Access support, and they had me unplug the Virus from everything, and then do an Arp->Edit reset after plugging the Virus back in. The strange behavior hasn't occurred again, so I guess it is gone. How strange. I just thought that I would post this here in case this happens to anyone else. Here is what Access said:

To be honest out of my head I couldn't tell you what is causing this. Does a reset bring the machine "back to life", so unplug your TI from the computer, unplug it from power and also take the power supply out of the power socket. Also remove any other cable going from/to the Virus TI.
Next plug back only the power supply into the TI and the power supply back into the power socket. Then reset the unit by holding down the ARP EDIT button for a few seconds while the unit is in standby mode. Whenever this is done and the TI has booted up correctly, connect it back to the computer and try it again.
