this mite of been asked before or mite be real simple to do.

I want to use the other virus audio outputs when using my virus ti as a soundcard with cubase studio 4 and virus control.

I understand how to send my virus sounds out the different audio outputs in the virus control. I understand how to turn on the other 2 virus usb channels in the cubase vst window and route different virus sounds through them, adding different pluggin effects so they only effect certain virus sound traveling via the different usb channels, even though there is only 1 usb wire connection (confused me at first).

when using my virus as the sound card all my audio, samples, vsts and emu emulater/proteus x sounds come out the virus master output.

I understand how to change this and make all the sounds, including my virus come out my emu soundcard master outs. due to the virus sounds traverling through the usb

now av just relised that technicly the 6 outs on my virus should be able to be selected in cubase to say send certain audio from my emu what was previously going out my virus master out to say go out my virus channels 5&6, with some samples going that way too and a few extra virus sounds aswell.

how do I select this? where is the option?

I have an external lexican effects rack what uses a vst & usb aswel but the rack requires an actual audio input. the audio doesnt travel through the usb, just the vst controller info does. this means to actualy use the plug in I need a sound card with more than 2 outputs. my emu sound card doesnt but its just occurd my virus has 6 so i am thinking there might be away to use them instead.

now there's a mind twister. dont forget am using studio 4 and not cubase 4 as this mite not let the multiple outs be set up.

did i just confuse the hell out of ppl. no ideas???

what i am saying is

I want to route tracks in cubase other than the virus tracks to go out say the virus left & right outputs 2. the tracks are coming out the virus master output but I want to seperate them up for sending to effects racks.

It sounds like your trying to route multichannel audio from your computer out of different Virus analog outputs. The Virus as a soundcard is only a stereo audio interface. The other Virus outputs (3-6) are only connected to the Virus' synth engine output. You could assign channels 3 + 4 as your Virus' outputs, and then using the Virus as a soundcard, your computer audio would be routed out of ouputs 1 + 2...

Hope this helps.

that would explain why I couldnt do it.

now that is clever. a useful idea i never thought abt.

thanks for the comments

I would suggest selling everything and getting a casio keyboard with a built in microphone. Then you could make some awesome music.... Seriously awesome. A casio revival...

Imagine Tom Jones meets Fischer Price. ; )

I was thinking of selling a lot of equipment and just stick to what I need. I actualy bought loads of different bits of kit for when other ppl came round. then they could work on the gear they were used to.

Less is more. Although once you figure out the less, you can graduate to more. Then more becomes more, without the more being more, more is actually less...

:P
