View Full Version : Patches not saving correctly with VC & Snow

So, I love my new Snow.
I have it set up in Logic 8 and use Virus control to edit sounds and I really like the two page browser for saving and moving sounds around.

However, I have noticed something annoying.
I often use the random patch function to screw with patches. I might call up something I like and only set the random to slightly random and see where that takes me. . I really like this function. So sometimes I find a really nice sound, or a strange sound effect that I want to use - and then I save it, and move on to make more crazy sounds.

Then later when I load up that sound, it's different. It is missing something, or in some cases makes no sound at all.

Some element of the sound did not save correctly, and that sucks!

I do notice that sometimes notes are still playing when I switch sounds, and I wonder if these trails of previous sounds are getting into my newly created sound, but then don't get saved, so it sounds different. I am re-triggering the sounds on the keyboard, so it's not like that should be a problem.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Sometimes I have a really crazy arpeggiated noise and it was created by random, I would never be able to get this sound again, and then when I reload it later - silence, no sound. Or just some 'whisp' of what the sound once was.

Any ideas?

Scott.

You go into the Edit Config page in the Snow itself. Scroll through and you will find the randomize parameters and the button to initiate.

This feature/button is nowhere in the Virus Control software which I find strange. I have though found that freezing elements using the software prevents those elements from changing when you randomize patches. This is very useful and they don't mention it anywhere in the manual. I think they just say that frozen elements will not change when you load new patches, which is cool, but randomizing elements you choose is cooler.
