Hello,

I want a really awesome, dirty, aggressive sounding distortion unit, rackmountable, to put my Virus TI through. Anyone have some suggestions for units to check out? :> My price range is no more than £800.

Sherman Filterbank... It's a Virus' best friend when it comes to anything related to evil.

Is mainly a tube/tranny guitar cab & amp simulator, but...

SansAmp PSA1.1?

Not sure how suited it is to electronica as I haven't played with one in the flesh.

The Sherman is a unit that has been suggested to me by someone else, too. I'm not fully clear on how it makes distortion though - isn't it basically just a bunch of filters and envelopes?

Another unit that has been suggested is Thermionic Culture's "Vulture":

It's a bit more than £800 but if it's really worth it I'd be willing to pay the extra. Anyone have any experience with this unit? :>

Liam Howlett uses it.
