Is there a use for the S/PDIF output as of 2.7.5? I was hoping to be able to assign specific channels in the Virus|Control to the S/PDIF to use as a 4th digital output. But it seems I can't do that ??

my emu sound card has an spdif in and out too. havent been able to figure that out either. I wanted to link it all up with my lexicon effects mx400xl. this uses usb but not for the audio. you need a seperate output from your sound card as a send. wanted to use the spdif on either my virus or the emu so will be glad to hear a good response.

I'm not actualy sure that cubase studio 4 will allow me to make a seperate output other than master or internal routed busses.

I am using an MX300 with sp/dif and parameters controlled by USB.
SP/Dif is connected to my soundcard (scope)

i had to set the clock source in the lexicon to sp/dif and maybe thin in/outs as well, it was a while ago. i remember doing it from the front panel.

why whats up with the SPDIF out ?

I connect my virus up to my mixer via the SPDIF with no problems.... unless of course you are talking about assigning it seperately , where I think it duplicates the main analogue outs

you might be able to help me here as i jst couldnt get it to work. the manual is very abrupt on it. I think the problem may be as i cant assign the output from my sound card to spdif. even though it has it.

unless of course you are talking about assigning it seperately thats what i was hoping, not sure abt original topic starter. I take it from this that you mean the spdif out is already the same as the normal master out. you jst simply connect it up.

yeah , as far as I know it just duplicates the main stereo outs as digital.

my emu is just a duplicate as well. not realy a 0404 then it might have 4 outs but only 2 outs with the other 2 been a duplicate in spdif.

I've got my mx400 working now from spdif. problem i am having is in cubase studio 4 when you go down the inserts list and click on it it doesnt load the plug in. I have sonar 6 and it loads the plug in fine. it works great in sonar 6.

any1 any ideas for getting this to work in cubase.
