Seems like there are fewer reported problems with OS3 around here, so I think its pretty good for a major new release. Access have got the hang of it now and banging out good release after good release.
Of course some have got problems, that was me a while ago too. But the software is now solid and the refreshed models seem to invigorate the range. The Virus is still the hottest synth and if you don't agree with me, step outside...

You can do that without worry, because it's only a matter of minutes to revert back to the old OS should you need to (which is what I did, because OS3 was not exactly usable yet with my Snow - I had to restart the snow every 2 minutes).

Ok, problem number one with XP and cubase 4.5.2.
Virus control says 'no virus TI connected'. :o
Going to uninstall and try again :D

Nope, it is not liking it here, virus control can't find the virus even though XP found it and updated the firmware no probs.
Creeping back to 2.7.3

I had a similar problem too,on the same system, this is how i solved it. unplug Virus power, hold exit while plugging it back in and powering up, use virus control center to update firmware again and it works

Ok, will try again tomorrow...seems strange it doesn't work since the update process went smoothly enough.

I had the same problem too and solved it the same way but I still think the USB communication is rather flakey. Several times I have opened the Control and it has not been loading any of it's own patches but only those on the Ti hardware unit.

How do you go back to 2.7.3? Must admit I don't like the new Control look - I prefer the black and red look (more like my desktop) to the white and beige. Also I'm sure the graphics for the oscs and filters were bigger in the old version.

Wow, I am surprised about the haters of the new look. I think the new look alone was worth the 3.0 update release. Much easier on the eyes. I love how clean and organized it is. Could it be made better? Sure, but would I want them to go back to the old look? HELL NO!

with you on this one, i think the new look is cool, one thing i noticed in Cubase 4.5.2 when clicking on the instrument logo to bring the Virus Control plugin up it takes a few seconds maybe 1 or 2 longer to pop up

Maybe but it's also too unstable at the moment so how do I revert?

As the OP and unabashed fan of 3.0.0.0, I also got the "no TI connected" and the first sounds were stuck Init patch notes but after a power off and on of everything it hasn't been a problem eversince. And I've used it a lot, powering it on and off a few times a day.
Snoozer, you can uninstall 3.0.0.0 any time. Its a normal windows uninstall, or on a Mac the uninstaller is in Applications/Access. Then you can run the installer for 2.7.5 or 2.7.3. If you have trouble with the firmware update of an earlier OS, start suspecting your computer.

Thanks - roll back went fine. I think I'll stick with that till a more stable release is posted (wish I could keep the old look Control too)

Right, it is now detected in Cubase!
The vst activity and part volume bar are working but I get no sound :(
Any idea what to tweak? I've tried setting the output to USB1L+R etc.

I had the same problem
you need to;
1. unplug the power lead, Hold exit, turn on, open virus control centre and do the firmware update again.
2. make sure the output is set to USB1 L+R
the audio should now work :)......anoying having to do the firmware update again but it works

I wonder - so is doing the firmware update twice a lasting solution to the "device not found" problems or do they creep back in after a while? If so why? Is it not installing properly first time round?

Dont know? This is the first time I have encountered this type of thing. With 2.5.1,2.7 versions this never happened to me....all i know is it got my virus to make sound after it wasnt with 3.0

Hi everyone, here is a little review about OS 3.0
I got serious problems ! In the beginning, everything was ok. I started working with the new OS (I love the skin actually of course because I'm a Polar owner).
I use Nuendo 3 (~Cubase 3).
- After a while, the modwheel doesn't work anymore with one of the channel (here, it was the 2nd). I restarted the project, the modwheel reworked... for a few minutes only !
If I copy my patch to another channel, the modwheel works again... but if I want to use the "infekted" channel again, nothing to do.
- When I open an older project. Everything seems OK. But after a while (again !) some sounds are like subtly "detuned" !! Are my ears totally broken OR...?!?
It sounds like a slow LFO that changes a very very little bit the tune ! I looked after something like that of course and found nothing !
So I'm back to OS 2.7.5 and everything sounds OK (less "detuned") :(
Bad new because I loved OS 3
