I take it all back! The virus distortion is useful after all. I just made the most awesome, aggressive, biting lead I've ever heard [myself program] on a synth. :>
I found that adding the distortion in the form of filter saturation produces far more useable results. On this sound I actually went back and added further distortion in the effects section, but it sounded a lot nicer there with the saturation already fucking things up a bit. Before when I was distorting but not saturating the sound felt very cold and "starved"..
In other news, I am currently doing the whole starving artist thing as I desperately save up to be able to afford the Culture Vulture (last bit of gear before I can consider my basic studio "ready" for musicwriting).
Anyway, dinner last night consisted of some chocolate sprinkles. :P Managed to scrape together enough coins to buy a pizza for lunch today and my flatmate is making me egg fried rice for dinner ^_^ On the plus side I have a modest amount of grocery shopping being delivered tomorrow night, so that will be good.
