View Full Version : Virus TI Snow as Soundcard vs Emagic Soundcard USB
Always worked with my Emagic Emi 2/6 soundcard (an 5 year old external USB card),... but recently bought an Virus TI Snow.
I am wondering if its a good decision to sell the Emagic, and go for the soundcard option with my Virus TI Snow...?
Is there a performancy/quality/bit rate loss etc? or is my new Virus Ti Snow the far better option?

I think the snows convertors are HOT from what I heard when I borrowed a snow before my Polar arrived. Sonic state also mention there quality in a review of the Snow. Anyway just A/B them
I cant tell a difference honestly...
So i think it will be a good decision, ... but maybe someone has an idea?

Can't use sidechain input when using the TI as a soundcard.
I dont use the inputs anymore... sold all hardware except the virus... so all is intern.

Ok, well if you use the virus as a soundcard you will not be able to use sidechain over usb, so no using the virus for effects from within the box. if thats not a problem then make sure its actually stable on your machine and it should be ok.

Have now tested them better.... i do noticed a more clean/crispier sound....
But also wondering:
- Is that due to better ad/da converters or something?
- Is the virus as soundcard 24 bit?
- Can i expect troubles, when using as soundcard, having all the 3 virtual USB OUTS, and the 4 parts all at once?
