This never used to happen, but now that i have installed everything on Vista, when i turn the virus on, my windows speaker settings change to virus TI audio, and my m-audio dissapears completely from windows sound pannel. I can stil play audio through the m-audio card via cubase, but it seems that whenever the virus it turned on, it overthrows the m-audio and takes over in windows. but i cant find a way to set the m-audio back, without restarting the computer.

If you go under SOUNDS in CONTROL PANEL I believe there is an option to select a certain device and set it to DEFAULT so that everything will only play through that selected device UNLESS you MANUALLY select it to play through another. It sounds like Windows has set your Virus Ti to be the default audio interface in which everything to play through.
