Midi latency?

Hello,


I'm using Cubase 5 in a WinXP32 environment. I've noticed that there seems to be a small, but noticeable latency on my Korg MS2000, which I am controlling via midi from the audio interface (Mackie Onyx 400F).

It's not an issue if I'm playing pads or anything with any sort of attack time, but for bridge lead sounds it becomes quite noticeable.
I think I've read somewhere that it's possibly to get Cubase to compensate for the latency during MIDI playback. Can anyone tell me how this can be accomplished?

I'm still a bit of a n00b at Cubase so layman's terms plx.. =P

There were issues for latency regarding some of the previous versions of Cubase, but these issues were always related to the playback being slightly behind after a recording had taken place; playing live never had any trouble.

To solve the latency after recording in Cubase 3 for example, it was a matter of making/moving a file named "ignoreportfilter" into the root directory. I just did a search with "ignoreportfilter cubase-5 latency" and it came back with a heap of hits, so this might help with your situation too.

It seems that some combined MIDI/Audio interfaces, especially the ones with firewire, are having a latency problems.

Other than that the MS2000 might break in on enormous controller load, since the hardware seems to run on its limit.

Man. You guys won't believe this. I r such a massive n00b.. =P
The bar that I was hearing as out of time (and assumed it was midi drift) was actually 1/32 ahead of where it ought to have been.
So uuhhhhh yeah. That explains that.
