Hi, this is my first post here and I've owned my TI polar for a week now so am pretty fresh to it all.
I've discarded the TI vst and am running traditional midi in/out via midi cables and routing the anologue outputs in to my daw via my soundcard. The TI vst is a real drain on CPU in my projects, it's as far as I can tell only giving me three channels out anyway (same as the analogues outputs) and has latecy issues to deal with also so I figured it was best to ditch it. The only advantage I can really see the TI vst offering me is the ability to automate perameters within the Virus, wich I'm not totaly sure couldn't be achieved via standard midi anyway. So, if you could help out with answering a few questions I'd be very appreciative.
Firstly the polar only came with a quickstart manual, is there a more indepth manual available anywhere?
Can the filter cutoff in the Virus be controlled using midi CC sent from my daw? How is this achieved, is it steppy at all, can I assign 14 bit high definition midi (like a pitch wheel output) to the filter cutoff?
I can assign my patches to audio outputs L&R-1 / L&R-2 / L&R-3 but a copy of the audio outputs always appear at the master outputs L&R-1 regarless of wich channel out they are assigned to. Is there anyway to dissable this? Thus giving me three "seperate" audio outputs.
How can I change the order of the filter and effects sections, for example if I want to run a filter over the top of a delay is that possible? if I wan't to add distortion to a sound before it's filtered, is that possible?
Can I send tempo sync information to the Virus via midi cables?

If you have a email address, I have a PDF of the KC Virus CC's which would be pretty much the same.
The file attachments are to big for this forum, so if you can send me your email, I can shoot it off for ya.

Not sure what they are shipping with now but my TI (back in the day) came with a larger manual. You can download a manual from access-music.de on the web.

You can assign just about any controller to any parameter. This would include mod wheel. You should be able to map the mod wheel to the filter inside the virus and then just record/playback the mod wheel movement.

Is this how the multi works? Not sure of the answer here. Check the manual on this one.

Not in a single patch that I know of but you could always run a multi and send one patch back into the Virus and effect it that way maybe?
>>> Can I send tempo sync information to the Virus via midi cables?
Yes.

Why is the VC draining your CPU usage... do you have an old PC? I run VC and it takes basically no CPU usage, that is part of the reason to use VC to control your Virus for multiple sounds, for automating the parameters for multiple patches at the same time. Maybe you need to have a play with your settings in your DAW and get it working smoothly, VC is definitely worth getting up and running.

That would be really cool, I havn't got my workflow down as yet with regards to midi mapping, this would help a lot ;)

Ahh, the full manual comes as a pdf in the installer (not actually labled as Polar) just Virus, ok cool. . . . . right, but it doesn't cover outputs really, sheez.
I guess I'm still stuck on this one, this is effectivly limiting my audio out's to just 2X L&R, that sucks a little.

Your right, the CPU is low looking at my task manager, my daw tells me it's using a lot of ram though and I have a couple of heavyweights to contend with already, Kontakt and Maschine, they all total up to a gig of ram usage even when empty of samples. . . I'll have to think this through again.
So the restriction with the filter/effects order is a little frustraiting, I have good filters I can use in my daw though (namely bi-filter) so not the end of the world I guess. One of the first things I ever learned in music production - does the delay sound better placed before the filter or after? pretty simple, I'm surprized they overlooked that.

Hi Ni-Cad,
I have sent over a PDF containing the Ti's CC's parameters.
Hope this helps

Hey Horsegrip :)
Thanks for that mate, I appreciate you taking the time to dig it out for me.
Wow, what a cool forum you guys have here!
