Hey everyone!

Probably an easy question but i just wanted to know your thoughts on it.

I just got myself a new iMac which only has one FW 800 port and a new Lacie 1 TB HD which is also FW 800. Now those two are easy but what the hell should i do with my RME Fireface 400 which only has FW 400?

What should i do?

Obviously i will have to daisy chain either the HD or Fireface but i don't know which one?

If i have my HD connected to my iMac using FW 800 should i daisy chain the Fireface to the HD or the other way around???

Oh and just so you know I'm NOT running a great deal of instruments through the Fireface. Just a few synths ect.

Please help

I'm sure that the FW's are backwards compatible.
And I am aware that you can get a 800 to 400 cable.
Try research this.

Yeah i have a FW 400 to 800 cable in the post...

Just not sure what device should be chained first...

Do you think there would be any significant problems with connecting my HD with fw 800 and then daisy chaining the fireface to it?

I would first put the Fireface 1st, as it the first point of recording
e.g:Meter's, Sync's, EQ's etc.
Then hook the HD after the Fireface
Does this make sense
