Did you guys realize the average price of the new virus jumped from ~$2,800 to $3,250?!?! I was really on the verge of laying down the cash to pick one up, but I couldn't afford it then, so I wont be now. I'm thinking about getting a used virus C box instead of the 61 key T|. These units are perfectly capable of making the aggressive sounds of the T|, right? I've heard the older units are best for harsh sounds. That the T| have better string patches and such, but the a, b and c is where its at. This is what I've heard. What do you guys think on the older models vrs the new line when it comes to more EBM/industrial sounds? Also, does anyone know the reason behind the new price jump?

I think the new ones sound exactly the same....perhaps clearer b/c of the new DACs. The advantage is the sounds that you can't create with a/b/c series (hypersaw, wavetable, etc)...if you ask me, the hypersaw alone is worth it.....and why not get a snow if price is an issue?

I don't like the snow because I'm more of a hands on kinda guy. I like to be able to twist the knobs right in front of me. Does that make any sense?

You have to get a Ti model I think - Virus Control makes building sounds so easy and the Graintable and Formant Oscillators sound amazing.

You can get a Ti mk1 really cheap and you probably wont be missing much at all. They are virtually identicle and Ive never been sorry for buying a Ti polar1 instead of a ti2 polar.

I don't think the price went up as much as the dollar became weaker against the euro. so, yes, for you the price went up (which is all that matters), but I think if you lived in germany, it would stay the same.

Marc has also stated that the Ti|2 will not go anywhere the Ti|1 wont. So the only difference the Ti|2 will ever have over the Ti|1 is upto 25% extra polyphony, and a lighter chassis (in weight). So the Ti|2 is a refresh of the present TI incarnation.
He also stated the wholesale price of the Ti|1 and Ti|2 remained the same, so any price jumps are due to either 1) the crap financial market, 2) exchange rates bouncing all over the place between different countries, and 3) retailers.
In our country (England) the Ti|2 was originally £700 more expensive than the Ti|1 used to be, but it's settled down to £200 more than the original Ti|1. The Pound Sterling took a hammering in the world recession but is settling down a bit.
