Hey Folks,

I currently working in Ableton 8 with my Virus TI desktop, im at the stage of recording my midi info into audio, everything is my session is pretty fine and dandy bar this one instrument part on my virus, all of the other 5 virus tracks are fine, but this one keeps clicking/poping at various places, quite subtly or sometimes reasonably loud. Ive tried various buffer sizes and only record with that track enabled but i still get the clicks etc... the patch is B-91 Puristic...any help is much appreciated as I want to get this song bounced down for mastering!!

Cheers

Do you use a dedicated USB card? (a USB-card with ONLY the Virus Ti connected)

all of the other 5 virus tracks are fine

That will be your problem. I'm usealy lucky if i get more than 4 tracks. I'm not using a seperate usb though as mentioned above. It is shared and not with much so I'm not sure thatwill make a difference.

try turning off things in a patch that you don't need or isn't realy used. i think that free's up power inside the virus.

or

record the individual patch to audio then do the next 1.

Hey, i have my virus plugged into a seperate pci usb card, the card does have my wireless adaptor plugged into it though...i have tried recording the tracks individually, does the virus still process all the tracks even when they are deactivated? also its only the one track...the others are fine as i have said, regardless if they are all activated or not...its just really strange, any more thoughts are much appreciated!! Thanks :)

I've wondered that too. As once i hit that limit and the pops start even muteing a few tracks etc still doesnt remove it, Sometimes.

1 track I made I recorded it in 2 halves, as in first few minutes first half, last few minutes second half. Cut and paste job in good old cool edit. Starting the second half of a track was the only way I didn't get a pop at a certain time. Strange but true.

i have started the track at various spots, but the pops are still present, i just cant figure out why it is doing this...annoying!

Mitchie - can verify I have had to do the same thing. Starting a track at a different point wouldnt get the click at same point, despite all the tracks on VC being muted bar the main one.

My tip bobo - start a new project, put the midi etc in there with the one virus patch you want to use and try to record it - see what happens?

I got the same issue, but as soon as I got three parts which is really annoying. I keep you updated as soon as I figured out what can happen. I didn't have the issue before OS 3.0.3.

So apparently the analog filters emulations are really eating the cpu of the virus ti. So as the reverbs, delays.
As I will have an external reverb unit soon, I may deactivate all my reverbs from my patches and freeze in audio all the ones that use virtual analog filters.
Access added a lot of new features, which indeed is great, but from now we don't have enough power to run them on a ti 1.
But, wait, they got a new virus line with a lot of new power inside... I feel fooled.

My conclusion : dump to audio, use the virus in single mode during live sessions.

The problem seems to be the same.

yea, its weird how it only happens on one of my parts.
