My Fave band of all time is Dream Theater. Followed by Megadeth, Opeth, In Flames, Annihilator, Testament.
Fave Electronic dude of all time is Jean Michele Jarre. Followed right up his arse T-Power, Speedy J, then Squarepusher, Aphex Twin, Cygnus X, Juno Reactor, The Advent and the mighty CJ Bolland.
Rachmaninov is the master of the Classical stylez

Ahhh, i could go on, of course! (^_^)

Not in any particular order:

1. Classical (including avant-garde)
2. Jazz (including crooners of the golden age --not Michael Bubblehead-- and Bossa Nova.)
3. Fusion (particularly the Pat Metheny Group)
4. Musical (until the early seventies, rare exceptions afterward...)
5. Singer-songwriters of the 60's and 70's
6. Progressive rock (Pink Floyd, Genesis etc.)
7. Any other kind of rock (until the 1980's, when it died...)
8. New age/ambient (though probably 70-80% of it is crap from people who couldn't play/compose any other genre...)
9. Film music (until the 1970, when it became the same crap over and over.)
10. Rare examples of anything not listed that are worth listening to.

Bravo. Me, I can easily do without the kind of 'gangsta' rap with lyrics that incite violence or just plain nastiness; and the sort of pap-pop where the lyric is essentially some variation on 'do you want my body?' which - frankly - should be directed at medical students doing their anatomical dissection module :-)

Deep prog bungalowstep some electro psychedelic dub & a little hardcore gabba ambient always does it for me ; )

…bungalowstep…

How would I know if I was listening to bungalowstep then Bernie, it sounds exotic. Like a half size 2 step maybe…

…hardcore gabba ambient…

That doesn't sound like the kind of thing that would help you to relax that much

Yeah exactly, I'm really into the semi-detached stuff atmo. & of course hardcore gabba ambient isn't for everybody, the drastic switch ups from 70 to 190+ bpm confuses a lot of people ; )

1) Film Soundtrack (synthy)
2) Italo Disco
3) Old School Hip Hop
4) 70's Funk/Disco
5) Electronic/Dance/Trance

Examples:

Film Soundtrack: The Hitcher (1986) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CK3wiZMwsRs&list=PL23A2B0BA24B7A3BB&index=39&feature=plpp_video

Italo Disco: Fancy (1984) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DzD9CyFtH4o&list=PL23A2B0BA24B7A3BB&index=16&feature=plpp_video

Old School Hip Hop: Breakin' (1984) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qOpDdiHs28&feature=related

70's Funk/Disco: Laser (1981) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LG1p5nhuULM&list=PL23A2B0BA24B7A3BB&index=35&feature=plpp_video

Electronic/Dance/Trance: Michael Cassette (2012) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rj6_W4F3__g

These are not in order of preference...because my mood state changes. Im listening to alot of Italo Disco right now. Much of the music was made between 1981-1986 and originated from Italy (suprise suprise).

Im also listening to alot of Michael Cassette because he has an 80's vibe going on with his Roland Juno 106. His album Temporarity was made almost exclusively with it. Check out the bass, arpegios, pads and some leads.

Give you an idea of what im listening to atm....
