View Full Version : Sync Issues using Virus TI in Ableton

Hey all,

I've had a TI in my arsenal for a while now but have only just got back from europe and started jamming with two mates in a studio environment, we've all got our own laptops/synths and we're running ableton in EXT mode with a drum machine acting as the master clock to keep the tempo tight.

The problem im having is that when my computer is synced to the clock/bpm of the drum machine I get some pretty big latency between the midi and the audio which results. I figure this has something to do with the fact that Live automatically applies delay compensation in normal mode but when in EXT it can't look ahead like it would otherwise. I read another thread on this forum where guys were saying you can select a D in the VC which may resolve the issue? If that fails I was thinking I could run the virus like a normal hardware synth through MIDI and run the analog outputs direct into the outboard mixer we're using.

Anyone else had this problem or have any suggestions/thoughts?

Cheers!

yeah, i noticed this just after i got my ti :(

your'e right with the ableton delay compensation

you may also notice the track delay in live for each track doesnt work either when in ext sync..

dont think the direct monitor on the ti will fix cause VC is a vst and likes the delay compenstation for its midi timing..but...pls post if you are in sucess!

PLEASE ACCESS SOME STAND ALONE SOFTWARE!!! = ALL your'e issues with timimg, syncing, gui problems, etc.. ALL GONE FOREVA!

i once thought separate 'host' for the VC might work..

but as soon as you plug a usb lead in the back of the ti, the ti wont respond to midi in messages from the midi in port.. :(

seems thats its one or the other... usb/VC/VSTproblems...problems all the time..most are resovable.....UNTIL THE NEXT BETA OR O.S!!!!... OR YOU CAN CHOSE MIDI, MIDI, AND MORE STABLE , OH SO STABLE MIDI!!

other thoughts if you want proper tight tunes..

the ti midi thru usb1 is only just ok....it is quite sloppy

in my experiences this sloppy midi thru usb gets to be unusable when the ti is pushed to its limit when using audio external IN.

i wish it wernt true but no VC means ableton in EXT mode is all good..as long as you dont need your ableton track dealys..

cheers
