Synching Arpeggiator to MPC

Hello, all. I have a Polar TI2, which I sequence through my Akai MPC 3000. I then run that audio into Pro Tools. I am very new to the Virus line and have not explored any of the "Total Integration" features. To this point, I am using it simply as an outboard synth. I am trying to get my arpeggiator patches to sync with the MPC. I have very little knowledge of arpeggiation; but as I understand it, if I have the Virus set to an external clock (the MPC), I should be able to control the tempo of the arpeggiation with the MPC. This is not happening. Any help would be much appreciated!

Obviously you have to make sure, that your mpc is configured so that it sends midi clock on particular midi output and of course check that in virus you have midi synced to external (there is also external clock sync for spdif on virus, what is for audio not midi) so that if you change tempo on mpc tempo is changed also in virus - then arpeggiator shoud be in sync
