Hi guys...
I have had my Snow about 6 months now....
i am just starting to get great psytrance sounds from it...i really love it..
I look after it quite well..its always in the bag that came with it...so its always covered up when i'm not using it...there is a lot of humidity here and equipment starts to rust easily in my city.

i bought my snow through an authorized Access dealer here in India.
For some silly reason i keep worrying about it getting spoiled.Maybe its cause i waited so many years to get it and spent so much on it
($ 1700 including customs and shipping) , and also since if anything happens to it, i need to send it across the globe , to get it repaired or maybe its just OCD that makes me worry about things like this...Do u guys worry about your gear ? or do u just take it as it comes...deal with it when it happens...?

well I wanted to know what the company Warranty period is on the snow...is it one year from date of purchase or 2 years or 3 or 5 ??

Also if something minor happened to it internally, after the warranty has expired, do u think it would cost a lot to get it repaired ...more than $ 200 maybe (excluding shipping costs) ?? and should I send it back to Access Germany only ?? through the same authorized dealer that i purchased it from..??
Anyone had any experience with this sort of thing ??

Thanks....

Nutrino, you are blessed with the power of imagination, the very mother of worry. There are at least five states in the cyle of value relating to good music gear: pristine, used, damaged, superceded, and vintage (can include damaged). All you are doing is getting ahead of yourself. Why bother? Let Time take care of that!

A friend did me a service when I showed him my pristine handcrafted acoustic guitar and after duly admiring it he said, "Y'know, there will come a time when it gets its first ding - just know it and be ready". I imagined the source of that ding (actually, those dings) with fearsome accuracy as I got to realise that the webbing holding up the lid of the case when resting horizontal was only just long enough, and the slightest knock when the case was open would be enough to slam the case shut. One day, I thought, if I'm not careful, that lid will drop shut while I am taking the guitar out and...

Now that it has happened, and there are indeed two tiny dings in the lacquer, I just think 'he was right, it was bound to happen, but at least I anticipated it and didn't foster the illusion that my guitar could ever remain pristine'. Yes, it's a spoiled guitar, but one that has taught me about coping with damage. Sic transit gloria mundi.

Imagine all the ways your Snow could get spoiled, put OCD-style probabilities on each one, and turn your worry into a checklist!

Good luck. The music's the thing.
Suzzy :-)

hi..

Thanks Suzzy....thats awesome advice for my silly brain...
i like the incident u described...
it is a good lesson...we need to accept that everything ages...and be open to any possibility...

it seems that OCD is rather irrational, most of the time...
worry is rather irrational...haha

anyway

:)

thank you...

I think about this whenever I get something new that has a substantial cost to it. I recently bought a pricey new car, still only has a couple of hundred miles on it and I'm driving it like a 90 year old woman because I really dread hearing that first rock on the highway hit the front of the car leaving a small paint ding. It's inevitable but as long as I prolong it I will get some kind of comfort :)

If you suffer from this particular kind of anxiety, it may be best to avoid buying brand new and only buy very good second hand, where the painful loss of newness has already been incurred by the first owner. That way, you benefit at least three-fold: avoid the angst, pay less for your big-ticket items, and even claim to be committed to recycling :-)

Heh.. Well I had pretty good luck with used synth gear. I don't really care to buy used cars because I've found I'm usually just buying someone else's problem which means although I don't have to care about rock dings, the inevitable major repair is usually right around the corner with an auto :)

You should keep a couple of little packets of Silica Gel in the bag with your synth. This will absorb moisture from the air and help keep it dry and rust free.
