View Full Version : Replace DSP in Virus B/Indigo

Hi all,

Does anyone know if its possible to replace the DSP in my Virus Indigo 1?
It freezes as soon as I touch a key or send any MIDI to it, I think it may have something to do with the DSP dying.
I have a (hand drawn) schematic of the motherboard telling me the CPU and DSP, i think both are still in production.

Really can't be bothered sending it off to SSD, so any help would be greatly appreciated (:

Thanks in advance

I wouldn't know. Theoretically it's possible if you get the same specs DSP if it's still available (the exact same, not something similar that might use different pins or different voltages) and if you're good with soldering surface mounted stuff (and you have something to unsolder chips without damaging everything).
I'd spend the money to have a tech do it.

Thanks for the help

I did have a technician from Yamaha working on it and even he couldn't fix it.
Had it apart today and found the DSP is a Motorola XCB56362PV100 (http://www.datasheetarchive.com/pdf-datasheets/Datasheets-319/15813.html)
