Can't tell if this is one track that get mixed into another or not...but that part that starts at liek 1:56 is AMAZING!!!
Does ANYONE know what song this is?? Thanks!
Armin's good, love his tracks, although they're mainly by Benno de Goeij (Rank 1) thesedays. Armin's time is mainly taken up by DJing and he just plays them out.
One big problem I have with Armin as a DJ is that he's not creative with his mixes. They're just one of his tunes... crossfaded into another one of his tunes. It seems so heavily scripted, pre-set up on laptop, rather than creatively man-handling the decks live. All he seems to do is tweak EQ knobs.
As for the tune ID, it's a famous tune, one originally from the early/mid 90's by Rollo (aka Faithless, Felix, Huff & Puff, and others).
Showing my age here... :)
OT Quartet - Hold That Sucker Down.
Rollo made several versions, some without or with the vocal (by Colette).
The melodic electro remix Armin played out was the same trackname but by Jerome Isma-Ae.

And the old classic...

The classic vocal radio mix, the one that got most airplay...

+1 for that timo. I've seen him a few times now and his mixes are dreadfully dull, long slow dull transitions. Pretty sure the first 30 minutes was synced entirely to video on one CD as he was not using headphones or doing any noticeable cueing from what I could ascertain.
On the flipside, watching Sander Van Doorn do a mix this year was a nice revelation for trance/prog djs - 3-4 minute mix throughs, heavy use of filtering and teases, and kept the energy coming.

I agree and disagree with both of you guys. I've seen Armin three times now. The first time was the greatest thing I have ever experienced in my life, the other two were so so, but for reasons (small space for one and he had some sort of issues and didnt play a full set at the other)
I think armin's song choice, after listening to his live sets, is mostly INCREDIBLE. He does do long transitions, and he definitely has his moments where I shake my head, but man he mixes some shit together in ways I could never think of and have TRIED mixing but can't like he did (try madagascar richard durand remix into the return by eight wonders) it was the first time I heard those two songs at the first show i went to, and when he dropped the return both of my kneecaps buckled and I fell to the ground screaming for mother.
When it comes to his writing, here is how I see it. He obviously has the skills to produce, but I don't put him in with the trance elite like...uh...benno, alex morph, signum, etc. As far as I know "communication" was all armin, as well as a bunch of the older songs of his that turned out to be huge hits, but he and benno DEFINITELY spend a little too much time together (i think over half of the songs on imagine are credited to benno).
But Armin has cred for MANY more reasons than just his producing and performing skills.... isn't he the founder of armada? And state of trance? Those ASOT episodes are kinda hit or miss sometimes for me but still. It's state of trance. AND his birthday is Dec. 25th so he is also jesus.
and thanks a lot for the song, timo...LOVE it.
