View Full Version : TI Polar one key not working.........please help
hello,
I finally prurchased a TI Polar and was so happy.
I paid 1200 euro for a used one.
I received the synth today and the first thing i tried was to test the keys.
I noticed that one of the keys is not working and that is the 3rd black key counting right to left.
Why?
The seller says the synth must have been damaged in transit.
What can i do now?
Can i fix it?
I am willing to open it up but where do i look?
Please help me.

My new polar had a dead key.
Take it to the local keyboard repair guy, it is a simple fix, there is probably some tiny piece of muck on the key contact.
hmmm
i wonder if there's a keyboard repair guy over here man.
i wished there was......
i'm in Cyprus.
what do you mean by muck?
dirt?
should i open it up and clean?
you mean it is inside that rubber button inside the on the board?

yes muck = dirt
what can sometimes happen is that dirt or dust can get lodged within the keyboard contact (there is one contact per key). The contact is like a switch to turn the note on and off.

Thanks for the info.
I took the synth to a pro to get it fixed.
Probably you're right and will end up paying for a 5 minutes job but opening up the synth would be a complete pain..........
It was hit pretty badly while in transit and want to buy new side panels now. Is that possible? Will send Access an email for this.
I haven't had a virus before.
Even with the one key not working, i noticed some patches that the synth somehow was crashing for a few seconds and there was not sound. I would hear something like an explosion, as if you pull the cable from the guitar and then no sound. After a few minutes it there was sound again and after a few seconds the same. Is that normal? On lets say a ration of 1 patch out of 127 ?
I need to know before the repair guy spots one of those patches and rips me off totally.
You know he's gonna tear my @rse apart if that is another problem.
Let me know please.

Hi, normally I would advise to update to the latest OS and import the factory ROM banks of preset patches. However you've just bought the synth second hand, so to give yourself the best chance of returning it, tell your problems to the person who sold you the synth. Let them know the problems you have found. Ask them if you should update the OS and sounds. If they say yes, then they can't argue with you if you do update the OS and it's still non-functional (rather than them blaming you the synth became defunct after you took responsibility and started installing new OS's) and that you want to return the unit to them for a full refund.
If they didn't package the synth adequately for it not to get damaged in transit, which it seems they did do, causing hardware damage (to the key, and the side-cheeks), as well as the corrupt OS and patches, they should take full responsibility for the damaged item.
My friend, i already updated the OS.
The synth however was running the latest OS when it arrived.
What i am asking is whether the symptom with some of the presets is common to other users.
i am talking about this problem without the "Total Integration", which i mean not connected to the PC.
