Remote mapping problem/help

Hi,

I'm working in logic pro 9, and i'm trying to use remote mode to make a custom mapping for the Arturia Jupiter 8V plugin.

I followed what it said in the manual, e.g found the cut off midi number of the jupiter 8 - 74, typed it in the midi string box on the remote page - BO%74*
But nothing happens?

I have my Virus connected to my mac pro by USB only, do i need the midi cables? I wouldn;t have thought so because i mapped the jupiter 8 to a different controller before and that was usb only.

Any help on what i'm doing wrong would really be appreciated,
