Hi,

anybody using Linux with his TI?
I just got mine and want to upload some patches to the TI.
How can I do that?
Would it be possible to write the ROM Patches with other patches?

And more imprtant, how can i update my Virus with linux?

The TI is seen by linux, would it be safe to just play a midi file?

amidi -l
Dir Device Name
IO hw:1,0,0 Virus TI MIDI
IO hw:1,0,1 Virus TI Synth

thnx

I'm a bit new on the TI2 (have for for 2 days now) but with other MIDI synths (like from DSI) all management features are done by MIDI and data transfers to/from a synth (i.e. patches, OS updates) by MIDI sysex standard messages for which i use simplesysexxer or similiar open source tools.

You will find a whole stack of MIDI tools and helpers under Linux / Open Source operating systems and for some synths there are total integration / plug out MIDI clients available as open source (like for the DSI evolver) but i did not found any plug out tool for the access until today.

If you use any DAW under Linux like Ardour or Bitwig, there is no access virus VST available until now for linux, but since the first high pro companies bringing their VSTs even out for linux this may be just a matter of time.

By principle, all virus TI interfaces are accessible under linux becaus ethey are working on standardized protocols and linux is a king if it comes to industry standards and protocols.

hth and cheerioh,

Niels.
