Hi,
I'm interested in picking up a Virus Snow. I had two questions about the interface that I can't answer since my local store doesn't have a Snow in stock.
I intend to use the Snow mostly away from my computer, so it'd be controlled via MIDI, not USB. I know it's not as easy to program as the other TI/TI2 models, but I already use a MIDI controller with a lot of knobs in my live keyboard rig that I would like to take advantage of. I've already read that the Snow will respond to CCs for a lot of the common parameters. So:
1) If I turn a knob on my MIDI controller and send a message to the Snow, what happens on the display of the Snow? Does it show the current value of the parameter, changing as I turn the knob, just as it does when I use one of the 'Value' Knobs on the Snow itself?
If so, after I stop adjusting the parameter, does the Snow revert to whatever mode it was previously in (e.g. it displays the parameter as I'm adjusting it via MIDI, and then goes back to the main 'Performance' view or whatever Edit page I happened to be on), or does it remain on the Edit page for the parameter I tweaked?
2) In the Virus B and C manuals (which actually talk about what EVERY button does, as far as I've read), they mention that if you hold down one Parameter button and then press the other, you can jump over whole groups of parameters, e.g. to be in Effects Edit mode and quickly jump between the groups of parameters for each effect. The Snow quickstart guide doesn't mention this (it assumes you're using Easy Mode), and the Reference only talks about what each parameter does, not the interface of the synth itself.
Does the Snow have this feature as well? If not, is there some other way to jump more quickly between parameters in a given category?
Thanks!
