agree
you can do amazing stuff with very simple sounds you just need to sequence good and a good mix |
Interesting......
Of all the synths Ive ever used I'd have to agree that the Virus is probably the best all rounder. Its very good at most types of sounds.......unlike other synths which are a bit lacking in certain areas (ie N2). Now that I have my speakers properly positioned in front of me when I play the Virus...im now experiencing the proper stereo girth....hmmm satisfying hehe. I really like the ambient soundscapes the Virus is capable of making weeeeeee.................... DSthe |
Good sounds which arent sequenced appropriately still sound shite........
Yep, sequencing is important. DS |
I'm using the Virus mainly for basses / leads / pads / strings. More often for bass and leads (I think, I got it recently !).
For SFX and Ambient , I prefer to generate wave files with various synthesis programs. For Drums, either I synthesize weird loops or I use the Attack plug-in. However, it's true that the Virus has a really broad palette of sounds and could be used in any of these categories. |
I have quite a bit of gear, but I still use the Virus C for everything except beats. I'm just that excited about it - and frankly, it's easier to use just one synth, rather than set up loads of synths each time!

It's the only synth I have as well so I use it for pretty much everything, though I use a Alesis DM5 for drums and a bass guitar for well ...... bass guitar.

Mostly leads and pads. I mainly use analogs or my sampler for bass parts, but I have used the Virus for all of those categories at one time or another.
