Schh Juho..! hehe. it was supposed to be a laugh for oddbods finger. It would probably say something like: The virus was corrupted because an interstellar creature sat on the keyboard while playing jingle bells sounding really good..
Babbelfish is really good whenever you feel like laughing - just enter an german page and translate it. :) About the finnish: well my mother and i did a test even thou i cant speak/read finnish my mother started laughing hysterical and explained what my english friend had wrote to me "in finnish" |
I cant believe it!!
My Virus B has fvcked up again. It was supposedly fixed. It worked fine for 3 weeks but yesterday it suddenly went pear shaped again. ARGGGHHHH!! I've e-mail the place it was sent to in Germany to supposedly be fixed. So far no reply.... As they had it 3 months before it will probably take them 2 weeks just to reply to my e-mail. |
shit oddbods! im really sorry to hear that! hopefully u hear about it soon....hopefully they do the right thing and fix it for free!

Just come up on my mind that sometimes there's situations when there are two broken parts: The one broken part that causes the problems and the other one that breaks the other one. That's is bloody hard to notice. I've fixed two television which had this kind of trouble. You noticed the situation when the tv came back as a bumerang from the customer. If they have just fixed the problem part in your Virus it will take only few days until the part is broken again (as it seems that has happened here). Maybe they'll get it fixend on the second time. |
well the repairers in Germany replied to my e-mail after a few days.
They were quite vague, the most they would say is that they had supposedly repaired a "Faulty Driver Circuit" ???? They said to return the synth to them via Turnkey. mmmmm.....well not being too keen to lose the Virus for another 3 months, I decided to try a local electronics guy. He managed to fix it and have it back to me within 4 days!! He said the problem was a faulty chip, which he simply replaced....he also said though that he could see no sign of any previous repair being made???? It cost me ?70, but the shipping cost to Germany and back alone cost me ?60 last time. Well it's now working perfectly again but I think I'm jinxed with this Virus. i'm gonna sell it (with my Kawai K5000S) and probably get a Virus C Keyboard. |
Solution for me
This is an old thread but it's the only one I could find stating the problem I had when I just bought a second hand virus. The patches would store for a little while after I powered off, but after about 10 mins or so that message would appear and I'd lose all settings (MIDI) and patches (A/B). I'd get random ascii for titles in banks A and B and the patches were so random they were unplayable/silent.
I opened up my Virus Classic and there is a standard CR2032 camera battery in there that's very easy to change out. The brand on the battery was VARTA. I looked them up and that site looks as German as can be, so I was happy that it was probably the original battery. I replaced with one from the corner drug store, and my patches have been good for a few days now. All set! |
