I used to have a Digidesign Audiomedia III then moved up to the Digi001 that I recently sold because I want to go Firewire.
I wanted to get rid of PCI based card that I think will be obsolete soon.
I am waiting for the new ESI-PRO soundcards
http://www.esi-pro.com/
Right now I am using the stereo INs/Outs of my G4

Do you have any idea what kind of prices to expect on these things?

there are 3 models coming out
the one I am looking forward is the middle one:
1U rack 8IN/8OUT analog+ 4 MIDI IN/OUT
it should go for 300 Euro, more or less
it's called OCTAFIRE

That seems like a bargain!
Are the ESI stuff usually good then?
I mean that would eliminate the need for a midi interface as well!
Any date when this is going to be available?

They have been postponing the launch of these products for months. I heard about them at least 6 months ago and even have brochures about them.
This product is based on their WamiRack192L (PCI based) audio card

As far as I know their stuff is OK
I think it should be out very soon

Hey,

Check out the digidesign website. They are offering very cheap upgrades from the Digi 001 --> Digi 002. Maybe you would prefer that?

I use an Echo Gina - got it not too long ago. Sounds great. Pretty good deal that it comes with adat (even though I have yet to get a digital mixer), but I understand what seraph is saying about PCI based cards.

I am only using the oem cubasis that came with the sound card, but I have yet to figure out how to assign different audio outputs to different audio channels. Each of the outs work, but only one at a time with cubasis. Is this a limitation of the oem version or am I doing something wrong?
