Yes, it does. But Virus B 3rd oscillator is very limited. I think C has completely independent 3rd oscillator.

No, the 3rd Osc is implemented exactly the same in the C as in the B. It is true that it has some limitations compared to the main Oscillators, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it was 'very' limited..

LOL ;-) It hasn't even been released yet, and you're asking for a new OS?!

I think the fact that there is a reduced voice count from that of the Virus B makes it quite unlikely that we'll ever see the new filters in the PowerCore. Remember they take alot of processing power even in the C - using them has the same effect on polyphony as Unison Twin Mode.

Nah, i was just wondering if they will update the OS as on the regular Virus

On one of the older threads in which someone compared B and C series was said that C had independent 3rd osc. So it's false info then.

Well "very limited" was a bit too harshly said. But limited it is.

Actually, it has to be the same implementation as the B, otherwise there would be patch compatibility problems both ways.

How many instances does the powercore card have ? and whats the diff betwen the "old" Powercore and the element???

ben crosland 29.01.2004 01:16 PM

All PowerCores have 4 DSPs. The basic Virus license allows you to use one of these, which means you can have 4 Instances, each with a different voice, but sharing a maximum of 16 voices. With the extended license, you will be able to utilise all of the DSPs simultaneously on up to 4 PowerCores.

The PowerCore Element package is identical to the PCI, except that the Master X3 plug is no longer bundled with it.

Interesting, thanks

Confused is it 16 voices or 64 voices for the base version?

Tomer=Trance 10.10.2004 05:22 AM

you have 4 dsps
1 dsp=16 voices 4 midi parts
you need to purcush an extra 199 us (i think) multi dsp licence for the virus and then you can use all 4 dsps for virus 16,4 midi parts X 4 =64 voices,16 midiparts...
enjoy :wink:
