My Virus KB is the heart of my setup, and has been since I got it in 2000. It has a good amount of polyphony, is very versetile, and allows you to write an entire song on it (sans sequencer). As you expand your studio (and we all do...) you can add other synths that are are strong where the Virus is weak (virus has weak oscs that alias like hell high up. With unison and the 3rd osc, you may run out of voices), or synths that cover different synthesis methods (FM, Wavetable, sampler, rompler).

But the short answer is yes, the Virus is a great main synth. A few specialist synths in support will only make things better.

Called up for a Virus KC today but there weren't any available- will have to wait a few weeks until one is in stock.

Didn't put down a deposit, I'm going to have to wait until I've settled back down at uni.

I reckon the first piece of Hw you should get is a pair of monitors
