That's probably the nicest review I think you have ever written for one of my tracks Juho. I'm shocked! 8O
The original mix had more oomph with the kick drum actually, but in the final mix and master it sort of got washed out. Maybe if I pull it appart again, I'll work on that area. The samples are all single hit samples taken from a mate's 70s funk record collection (except the drums), then I played them in using amp sims and delay heaps. The only ones you may be able to recognise are from a Kool and the gang track - although it's almost impossible to pick because of the layering. The little "yeah" hit that pops up now and again is actually a vocal taken from some weird Arabic chants - my mate has a full 12" of the stuff! Thanks for listening Juho. Thanks for putting it online too! |
Just listening now mate - Sorry I have been on vacation for the past 10 days
- Nice mangling work. - Dig the hits on top of the guitar samples. - Breakdown is fucking sweet with the horns. All you need to add now is a james brown screaming sample on top. - Fuckin great track man. Really loving this one. I think it is one of the top ones you have produced. - Great drum programming. Ace track mate :o |
Track is in itunes now!! I wouldnt mind giving this a shot at remixing. PM me HC!!!!
|
Glad you liked it Merlot. I'm getting some contrasting opinions on it for sure! Everyone seems to like the beats though. 8)
I'll send a PM to you soon. :D |
I like the song up untiul it reaches 55 seconds, i don't like that sound that comes in , also beyond the 55 seconds it get's a bit repetitive , the sounds change i know , but the break kinda get's stuck in a loop.
But i like the groove of the track , it sounds really sample-based but i like it , kinda funky (with the trumpets and the ooooh! and all) ya know . Greetz... |
Thanks for listening fasttracker!
Yeah, I don't do sample based stuff alot, so this was an experiment into the unknown. Fun track to make though. :D |
Hey HC!
I have finally gotten around to checking this one out. I like it! It is definitely different than the music you have posted on Electromancer which is fine because I like both styles. It is definitley "Beastie-esque" but it has a bit more of an electronic feel than a hip-hop feel. You should play with this one and add some different stuff in to see where it gets taken just for kicks as it is a new sound for you. Your drums always kick ass Bro! The horns rock too! All in all I like it; good job! Now go give that baby boy a bottle you derelict music junkie! Take it easy Bro! -Alex |
Thanks for taking the time to listen Alex. :D Always good to get some more feedback.
Ahh the baby. I am bloody stuffed! I hope he sleeps normaly soon. 8O Anyway thanks again for listening mate. I'll have to give an update on the kid in another thread. He's full of beans now! |

Meh! Once kids then no sleep! Full of beans, eh? Just like Daddy...OR Mommy??? 8O Chill out my Bro! I've been around that block twice and I swear: EQUILIBRIUM WILL RETURN (although a bit different than before...) IMHO BETTER!!! :D |
HC...I like your tracks.....mostly because they are very original sounding (something I respect greatly). How do you make your drum loops? Do you use any pre-sequenced loops...or do you make all your drums from scratch using sample hits? At the moment Im trying to make drum patterns of my own using a freebie piece of software called Buzz (Buzzmachines). Ive downloaded samples of kick drums, high hats etc etc. But making good useable drum loops of my own is pretty time consuming...and to be honest...quite hard. So, do you have any tips for a drum novice like me?
Cheers bud DS |
