i am fully agree with DS , a well known company cant do that wrong things
the market is very difficult and you cannot take that risks; i come from Europe (Spain) and here are no Direct Distributors of Access Music so, Pro-shops only buy "virus " when a customer pays with a pre-order ,that situation has happen from few time ago , so you cant find a unit in all Spain ProAudio shops, then people prefer Clavia nord leads or whatever, because they can test them ; EVEN THE pRO-STUDIOS are not using virus units ( no distributors no technical helps ....) eventually it reminds me waldorf ( i have got a Q unit) in this area is very important to make a good marketing ....(clavia is done it) but access is making big mistakes, because you cant wait months and months with no news, actually access is no more selling any virus C unit just clasic, even Bmw or Mercedes are playing with new models-old models in a good marketing studio, but you have big brands: korg, yamaha making good bussines ,Roland so so the New V-synth (version 2 ) is an upgraded from a dissaster product (version1) and his XT rack version is having problems....Korg has take a big risky bussines with new Oasys 8.000$
hardware producers need to make really new models with new techs,

this trends in markets open (again ) a big dispute :is hardware machines at the end of the road?

But you have to ask yourself as the months drag on where are Access getting their cash from? They really only have the Classic that they're selling.

If the TI ships this year they will be quids in (as the pre-order sales will then be put through to them). But, otherwise, their gravy train stopped six months ago, so they'll certainly have to pull the TI out of the bag. Sales from the Virus C (when it was the flagship model) and previous Viri' should have put them in good stead to carry on for a while yet. Enough for them to get their act together and revive their products.

Lets just lay it on the line shall we....

1) Lots of pissed off customers who sold synths to buy a product which has been delayed time and time again.

2) Poor sods who have even parted with money based on eroneous information

3) A product that so far has come under great scrutiny for implementing USB1.1 when most of us dont understand why they did this.

4) Marc from Access' concession that a TI MKii will be made within 18 months of the initial release....so whats the point in shelling out money now when you know its going to depreciate radically?

5) No real updates on progres for 7 months (a trend set to continue it seems)

6) Peoples increasing fears that Access are surviving on very limited sales.....another Waldorf? Doesnt instill confidence does it.

7) That for some people, this situation has actually caused mental torment and mind loops for months on end....

Jeepers the fact we keep thinking and talking about it is boring. Can I just ask....are there still any members here who are genuinely looking forward to buying the TI? I dont mean this in a negative way....its im just interested to know. Ive just bought a N2X and having fun....I dont regret my decision....

I know u mean well Timo...but we just dont know do we. We dont know how many virus c units were sold....we dont even know what the profit margin on each synth was...its all speculation. What a total fuck up this situation is....

This is what I heard on the Virus mailing list......if its disinformation then ill be more than happy to retract it.

Looks like sonic state have deleted all the 'ti user reviews'

Ok, why have SS given the Ti like 75% for each category? Have they had a TI to review??? Seems a bit weird that on the other models the Virus gets 100% for most categories but all the Ti ones are 75%....its practically the same synth. Unfortunately those scores do influence buyers....Access should look into that.

Maybe because it was only working at 75%.

I don't know why DS feels it necessary to turn this into such a negative comment

Marc was merely replying to those who were speculating that there would be an almost immediate "TI mk2" to address the concerns about usb1.1 - in doing so, he made a passing comment on how there is obviously going to be a successor to the TI eventually.

To date, the product cycle of the Virus series has been working to an approximate time-span of a couple of years - to suggest that this is a good reason not to buy a TI now is a bit daft, IMO. Would it have made sense to warn people not to buy a B when it was announced, for the same reason? Obviously not.

For gh0d's sake, the TI is coming in at a very similar price point to that of the Virus C, yet it has been upgraded in so many ways. The 'Total Integration' feature may well be an important part of these upgrades, but still it represents only part of the picture. If Access had just released a Virus D without the 'TI' bit, I think the additional DSP horsepower and new oscillators would still have been enough to generate massive interest in this product.

Anyway, for now I would suggest to those who have held out this far, that holding out a little longer would be the best plan of action right now. FWIW - I've just been putting the finishing touches to my bank of 128 sounds, all of which use the new oscillators exclusively, and have been fully optimised to make use of the 3 soft knobs. For me, they represent the best of my work to date.
