So for powerbook users would there be any benefit to getting a Type I/II PC Card adapter for USB. Something like..

http://www.macally.com/spec/usb/conn...ce/uh2226.html

Seems like VirusControl works ok with my Live/Powerbook setup with very basic midi parts (just note on/off) but as soon as I add any type of midi controler information it starts struggling to keep up. (though just using normal midi over usb doesn't seem to have that problem).

It probably wouldn't make much difference but I thought I'd ask anyways :). Thanks....

I suggest an adaptec USB connect 2 PCI card - seems to be about the best (most reliable for audio) USB card around at the moment.

If running firewire as as well, then their firewire PCI card again seems to be about the most reliable for audio.

Do you suggest disabling onboard usb from the bios and using the pci to avoid conflicts? Did you noticed any improvements yet?

Had no problems with conflicts. I just plug all gear that doesnt need alot of bandwidth and low latency into my hubs or the onboard USB ports and the low latency/high bandwidth audio USB gear into the Adaptec card (thats the TI and my 8 port MIDI patch bay).

I still have all the onboard USB hardware enabled.
