I have to admit, I tend to use the VC bit simply because it is such a nice patch editor and library tool and of course total recall type function. But I would rather it worked without having to sacrifice regular hardware synth functionality (ie loosing the hardware midi ports which for me is a real killer).

sure i think U can have a few teething problems with the TI part of the virus, but when even turning the fucker on is drama, it running as a normal midi (Virus c) synth is a drama and it generally being an utter frustrating piece of crap. well its just not on.

Well, hmmm, I am running my Ti Polar as a "normal midi synth" and there's not much drama, nor is it "an utter frustrating piece of crap."

Prior to the 1.0.9 hotfix, I'd been experiencing the dreaded "satan saw" crash on a rather regular basis in sequencer and multi modes. This would typically only occur while changing patches on parts during MIDI playback. Since the hotfix, however, the satan saw has virtually disappeared, and crashes have been few and far between.

namshub, do you actually own a Ti?

Are you going to make the DP 5 jump? I realy wish there could be a DP 4.65 for intell, I realy want to get tthe intell boost, but all those soft synths they added make me nervous about cpu, etc.....and I hear they don't sound great anyways.

so how many channels of midi are U using? more than 2? we were using 4 and it was very unreliable. it crashes continually, notes get stuck, totally random weird shit - like every patch changing at the twist of a knob, totally irrational stuff... 4 channels of midi dood - 4!!!

and turning the thing on is a drama too - if it could be arsed to boot.

We are using one in our band studio. and we pretty much couldnt be bothered to turn it on anymore to save ourselves the frustration.

we have many more far more reliable synths....

Up to 16, with perhaps four or five playing at any given time.

Sounds like perhaps you got a defective unit.

At some point I am sure I will. I would not call myself a DP "power user," and I haven't read anything that made me want to buy the upgrade immediately. 4.61 is working just fine and does all I need it to do (nor am I interested in the softsynths).
