Well, at 44 and with 2 kids, I wouldn't really notice that much. Just picked up daughter's English Monopoly from the P.O. Got it from Amazon UK ?23 incl delivery. It's ?39 in the shops here!

Chrissy in Finland is ultra quiet. Most people visit the fucking GRAVEYARD on Xmas Day. No parties, crackers, silly hats, charades, nowt. And they eat ham. And they open their prezzies on the 24th in the evening.

Came out here in 92 with work, met a girl, stayed a bit longer, started me own business, had 2 kids, moved back to UK 2001, was shit, moved back to Finland 2002, been here since.

Couldn't get started in UK. No-one wanted to give us a mortgage though we had the deposit, shit housing anyway, had to start from scratch with car insurance, was making about ? what I make here, day care for youngest was impossible to find, cars EVERYWHERE, no decent playgrounds.

The list goes on mate. Might have stuck it out if we didn't have kids. We were living in Devon right next to Cornwall. Beautiful place, went surfing all the time in summer and that, but... No regrets about leaving. Miss a decent pint and a chat in the pub, but that's about it. Finland's nice and safe and though the weather's a bit crap at this time of year, it's OK! Might move to Spain or Italy or Alex's garage when I retire though. Tick tock..

Dont think I would ever have the balls to move somewhere else permanently. Even with all its failings, extortionate prices, crime, shite goverment, chavs and immigrants fucking everywhere its still home and I would miss to many things English and England itself, let alone learning some other bastarding language.

Actually, Christmas is one thing I defo miss. All the family and that. Big dinner, mother playing piano, pissed up relatives singing, everyone having great laughs, ah, BOLLOX now I'm fekking homesick..

Can't afford to take everyone back to Stockers for that. Much more expensive than two weeks in the fekkin Carribean.. Yeah! Not that we're going there or owt this winter either.
