I had a TI keyboard for 2 weeks (a friend of mine lent it to me) and tested it. It was a good synth with that virus sound but I didn't like the total integration part so much because you get only 2 stereo streams which are 16bits so the idea of TI vanishes because you get better sound quality anyway with the analog outputs. I had the os 1.2.3 which worked ok in Logic pro. Anyway, I had a few crashes or the synth just went nuts playing different sounds by itself when switching patches quickly. The flashing light at the back of the synth was reallly annoying and I couldn't stop it flashing. I was lucky to find a way to turn of the bpm light which was too bright and reduce the overall brightness of all leds too. The keyboard touch is very good as it was with virus KC. I really like that touch.
The synth engine didn't give much more what Virus C can already do, at least for me. The synth's polyphony decreases dramatically if you load pathes which include reverb, so the idea of having reverb for all channels is not so good if the synth still doesn't have enough dsp power to run them. Currently I only have the powercore version but I have had a Virus B and Virus KC too. I will probably get a C desktop or indigo 2 at some point or a virus ti but I would be totally fine with a C too which I in fact prefer because it never crashes. :D |
