Using the latest version of Ableton. Btw, quick update: Apple agreed to take the Mac Pro back on return for a 10% restocking fee, which is quite a relief even though I'll still be out $400! Also, this gives me 30 days to take it back... so here's hoping for a new Virus software update soon. |

Actually, I just installed the Virus Software on a Macbook Pro that is pretty damn fast and I'm still having issues. Beginning to think it's the Virus itself. The USB port doesn't fit extremely snug... so I'm wondering if it could possibly be a bad USB connection. |

But. Live is also working good on my Mac Pro here too. Did you check the settings in the Live tutorial against your settings in Live? For example, under CPU setting, set Plugin Buffer Size to "As Audio Buffer".... Also, are you using the VST or AU version? |
Thanks for all the help everyone... it is MUCH appreciated.
Marc: It is showing up correctly in the profiler, so it looks like USB connectivity is probably not the issue. Chicago: I did not load up the template file (for some reason I couldn't find it when I tried to... probably because I'm a dumbass ;)) But I did check and have the setting you mentioned in place. Plus using buffer size of 256, etc... So I have had issues (differentiating in severness) on 3 different machines. 1. New Mac Pro 2. Maxed out Macbook Pro 4 GB that is the second to latest generation 3. 3 year old Athlon PC I also tested this a few months ago on my buddies 17" macbook pro with no issues. But if it is "synth related" then something could have happened since then. But this is interesting... I disabled my MAudio ProjectMix I/O Audio Interface AND mixer and was able to do a "good run" with no screw ups. Problem is the "loud pitch stuck note" bug is extremely random and I've had good runs before. ...But I tried HARD to tweak it out (by hitting a ton of keys while chaning settings) and it worked like a charm. So I'm now trying the projectmix I/O without the interface control to see if that works. Will update here when I figure this sucker out ;) |
Oh yeh, and I've been testing VST and Audio Unit both... sometimes it seems one or the other one works well.
Currently I'm working more with the Audio Unit in testing. Does anyone have any recommendations on which one is more stable for you? Thanks, Trey |
One last thing... a lot of problems I'm *currently* having are stuck notes and delayed response from the virus upon hitting notes on the keyboard.
Just for curiousity sake, is anyone use the Virus with a ProjectMix I/O without any problems? Trying to figure out if that could be causing issues... Ironically I was having just the loud "high frequency stuck note" issue about every 4 hours of heavy use on my PC setup, which is why I bought the Mac Pro. I might hook up the old PC to see how it's reacting now. I guess that could give me enough data to possibly figure out what component is giving me the issue (i.e. if the TI acts as it does now then that could be the issue) Haha... so much different shit to troubleshoot when you're testing 2 macs, 1 PC, and 2 beta drivers ;) |
Chicago, thanks for mentioning the demo track included by Access.
Found it and now I'm using that to test the system. This is going to save me a ton of time. I immediately get the "red bar sync error" when loading it up. I'm about to test it on all systems (with and without project mix in use) to see if it's a system issue or synth issue. |

Also, set Live to use the internal Mac sound card for audio device, or the TI itself as the audio device and see if you still have trouble. |
