i am sure that all of them are able to satisfy most of us for example me , i am trying to make soundscapes , drones , experimental ambient atmosphere and more polar sent me to the galaxies ;) |
I will look at the MOPHO i does look interesting in fact if then i can buy MOPHO + SOMETHING to complement the virus...
What about Norld lead 2X ? does it have a different character compared to the virus ? |

I meant the caracter of each synth... like sometimes we say Virus is Dark sounding, Blofeld or fm synth can be very Bright... To me the Prophet 8 sound seem "rich" so i meant that way ^^ |

If i had to compliment the Virus with a synth that would be an analog beast such as a Moog Voyager like Liam of The Prodigy...:) I also like the Spectralis 2 |

if you want something really different you have to use a time machine , and go 20 years back :D |

so ok the Nord lead would not add anything... still i can look for MOPHO + bLOfeld or Little Phatty ? i saw earlyer today some video and sound sample of the Mopho it sounded good for a cheap mono synth... i liked the Prophet lead sounds someone said the Mopho is like one voice of the Prophet 8 ? so then lead and sound bass that i can achieve with mopho will be same as on the prophet 8 ? Blofeld seem cool too but maybe a little Arsh sounding... The little phatty could be cool but i dont know if it that much better than Mopho that it should cost 4 times the price or mopho... ? you think only way to add something to my setup is a Moog voyager ? lol its quite expensive... :S |
Actually, today i had free time so i listened to many sound sample and video on youtube (keyboardwizaed), and the MOOG LITTLE PHATTY does indeed sound quite fat and organic... it really seem to be able to complement the Virus and give some round bass for my mix, i will check it out more.
It seem the mopho is good deal as its cheap but the sound is not as phat as the moog... what do you think ? Virus ti2 + mOOG PHATTY + bLOPHELD ? OR i can skip the blopheld ? (actually its because i was gonna buy a prophet 8 and his price is same as MOOG + BLOPHELD). Thanks guys for you help :) |
I'd say skip the Blofeld. It's kind of nice but a bit abrasive to use as your "bright" synth given the sort of budget you appear to have. Also Waldorf are bringing out a softsynth version of it soon anyway.
Have you given any thought to some nice hardware effects? The best distortions, reverbs, compressors, etc, are all hardware units imho - to my ears they utterly blow their software counterparts out of the water. Let me attempt to pique your interest. Here are three of my lusted-after units... so far I only have the Vulture. ![]() Thermionic Culture Vulture (Distortion) ![]() Bricasti M7 (Reverb) ![]() Ridge Farm Boiler (Compressor) If you're really set on buying a third synth, and you want something bright to complement the thundering LP and soft/warm/dark virus, personally I'd try and save up for a Voyager. It will do bright/cutting fine and it's very versatile, not to mention incredibly sexy. If I could own any three synths, those would be it. -Annikk |
You are probably right, i will skip blopheld and continue to use FM8 as my bright synth.
FM8 is really good. as for external effect i could as well maybe use my tube preamp or something... But i will check what you said but my money will run out soon i think lol |
it seems like you don't even really know what you want, you just have $1k burning a hole in your pocket. We've all been there. If you want rounder bass than the virus, you'll have to go analog. Unless you want one of the 303 clones you'll have to save your money, or buy used. Myself, i'm dying for someone to sell me a SunSyn cheap, but it'll never happen! XD also, annikk's right about effects, if you're just bored, but i wouldn't drop that kinda cash on distortion. Try a diamond halo chorus or a germanium fuzz, etc. You'll have something to play with that'll definitely do things the virus won't.
