yeah, guess if you're looking to have some kind of backing track going and use synths and whatever on tops in sync with the songs, getting the mac book would be the way to go!

that's traktor dj which is what I'm using. the full version of traktor does not run on iPads or iPhones and the x1 controller (which i'd love to use) only works with the full version of traktor

All part of the same family & obviously you are not going to get the same functionality from a $5 iPhone app as you would the full blown program & the reasons for this are quite obvious. The iPhone & iPad apps need to use touch screen technology & limited screen real estate whereas the full program is geared towards the more pro end of the market who use hardware controller's & dedicated laptops. I second what tweakhead says...get a macbook pro, I play out every week with traktor & the S4 controller with no problems. You will probably find you run out of memory space pretty soon on an iPad if you have a lot of music.

true, that's probably the best route. expensive though. kinda waiting to see if the 256gb ipad 5 rumors are true

You can actually pick up used late model ones on ebay pretty cheap as they dont hold there value very long like all computers.
