What were you trying to do via midi that didn't work in cubase and posed no probs in logic?
Greetz...

I think back in the day, when we were at Cubase VST, you could definately hear a shittyness to it. I dont know whether that was due to the plug ins or FX, but it definately had "a sound" and it wasnt very cool at all....

Nowadays I dont see much difference between the maor players (Steinberg, Apple Logic, Pro Tools LE) and I think it really is about your AD/DA's, as you've said.

Listen to Fat of the Land Jase......

Pretty sure SX wasn't released in 97, since Howlett used Cubase since 93, I could safely assume Howlett made that album using an earlier version of Cubase.

Not a "shittyness" in earshot with that album! :D

techno_7 12.06.2005 11:55 AM

There where other Cubases than just SX though!

I think it was '92 that I started using Cubase on the Atari ST.

Hehe, sarcasm. We Ausi's are great at it!

But just on the odd chance you are serious (due to your growing brain tumor that is obviously purtruding into your ear cavity)....

No, it's by far the best!!!

Well then surely you havent heard "Music for the jilted generation"????

Actually, what am I talking about? "Experience" for me is where its at. Pure class. I never bothered with any of the albums in between "Jilted generation" and the new one, they just didnt do it for me. Way too pop.

Jase, Jase, Jase....
The best tracks on Jilted would have to be the ones that paved the way for FOTL (Posion, Their law). Not sure about your pop comment there either - "Magic people Voodoo people" or "Tell stories about
all the young girls". :D

Seriously, now that you're getting into production a heap more, take another listen and compare FOTL to the newest (or compare it to jilted). FOTL definitely kicks people in the nuts who speak heatedly about the newest Daw software. That album would even sound good over a phone line!

was the transition diffecult?

The transition was the easiest I've ever made. Logic is so much better laid out than Cubase in my opinion. I just found Cubase one headache after another and Logic has given me next to no troubles at all. I get so much more done now!!

And Pan...Other people agree with me on the sound. Compare Logic to Acid pro and tell me you can't hear a dramatic difference.

The thing I couldn't do on Cubase (and this was probably my fault) was to get a usb midi keyboard to route through the sequencer and out to the midi interface to play outboard synths. Literally took 5 mins to get it happening after installing Logic.

I really want G5 and Logic 7 now, but alas, I'm not rich! Damnit.
