John Bleak - Resting Here With Me (demo clip)
The story behind this version is really, really, really weird.
First see this: http://www.sunesha.nu/virusforum/viewtopic.php?t=2241 Last night I had a nightmare. In that dream I played that ballad clip (which I had completely forgotten) to a friend of mine and in that dream that clip had my vocals and 80's drums. Then I just commented that track to my friend: "This sounds like that Norwegian band. What was it called... Oh, it was A-ha!". Then I woke up all sweaty. I was horrified. 80's stuff! And it sounded good! That made me worry. I could still remember exactly how the song sounded like and I even remembered the editions on the melodies I had done in that dream! So I just thought that what the hell, let's try to replicate the version of that dream. I made the drums, added quick pad background and sung the track. So here's the early beta version: www.kolumbus.fi/juho.lepisto/Balladi-demotus.mp3 And this really sounds quite good. It's really weird feeling to make a track that doesn't have been never done but you have already heard the final version. ?hih. John Bleak, Depeche Mode of Finland. I built a microphone stand from a table lamp and a floor mop and I noticed that with a stand it's really easy to sing. And other good thing is that my Genesis sing-a-long fetish really shows on the pronouncing, which is nice. This is also a first track that I sung about an octave higher than usual. So please post some feedback on this demo clip. Don't mention anything of the sounds, they are just quick presets. |
got a nice groove to it
seem like the 4/4 is taking over you again  it cannot be stoped! |
DS is gunna be damn proud of you with this one Juho. Hehehe.
I like this much more than your Disco house track. It could actually be a love child between the Pet-shop boys and A-ha. |

Juho, thats nice...but I'd like to hear some fat stabby DX7 mkii chords in there. Id like to hear some 'Orchestral hits' PetShopBoys style.

Oh Juho that song made me positively piss my pants laughing. U should release this at xmas time...u never u know u might have a number 1. Its good man...bloody good.
Man...to really make this a No.1 we gotta have some 80's synth sounds in there. DS  Nice job Juho :P |

A friend of mine said that the vocals were too sex-beast-like. ?hih. But we did have great fun writing those lyrics. Thay are so sugarish that it makes you puke or laugh (or both). Quote:

I'm convinced that there's a higher force driving this project. There's probably a new 80's wave coming and this is going to be a hit. |
LOL sex beast....indeed!!!
Quite a husky voice u got there. I would be scared to meet u in a dark ally way. hehehe DS |
BTW Juho
strange chord sequence! What does everyone else think? DS |

Hmm speaking of chords and stuff like that......can we plz start a new thread in lobby about the theory behind chords and how to progress them. Im a newbie to actual music making and ive been making some of my own chords.
Ive made some interesting chord sequences.......I wonder if they are unique? Does anyone here know how to write counter harmonies and all that shit....hehe DS |
WTF Juho!!! Thats your voice in song? U have a pretty 80's sounding voice there. A little bit new romantic.

Here's one of my still unused progression (piano with these chords + female vocals and overproduced ProTools hospital sound = overproduced intelligent pop rubbish): Bridge: Bbmaj7 - Am7 - Dm - Asus4 - Dm Chorus: Dm - Am7add11 - Gm7 - Amadd117 Verse: Dm - Bbmaj7 - Csus4 - C - Am/C - C/A - Am7add11 - Am7 Quote:

I will go away and use those majic chord numbers and hey presto I will finally have a number one hit.
Joking aside.....is that the correct way of writing the chords down.....b'cos i do it differently. I just recently (2 days ago in fact) made a chord sequence with a progression which could definitely be used in some kinda epic film. Im not sure how to write them down. I might just litrally right down all the letters hehehe god im a keyboard newbie Im having my very first piano lesson next weekend. Hurray!!!! DS |
The funny thing is for me.....despite my lack of playing ability I still manage to make synth sounds. God im talanted.
lmao DS   8) |
