Can someone tell me how to create this sound please ?

Hi !
I'm desperate !
please follow this link and listen to sound no.3 :

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page...?bandID=430405

I tried everything but I really can't find out how this
sound was created. Is it a mix of analogue and FM synthesis ?
Need advice from a pro sound designer please !
Thanks

That is a dead ringer for an old SH101 ,

a group called the communards used that sound in a song called "small town boy".

Well, Did Communards also release that song? AFAIK, that's originally Bronski beat's song. :)

Sounds like a couple sounds mixed together...

Maybe a sampled electric bass, and a mono synth (for the lows) with a Lo-fi distortion type FX slightly mixed in. I might be way off though.

I gave it a go on my CS-10, but could only get a much fatter sound  (Am also running it through the Studer 169 pre & EQ...DROOOL) Couldnt quite replicate the clickyness of the sample, which made me think the synth used was either VA or ROMpler. Dunno...

thanks for your replies but this sounds isn't like the bass
sound from bronski beat's song. In fact this is from
a song called "desire" by roni griffith. Released in 1982
(2 years before smalltownboy).
Look at the wave form :

Very strange !

Bronski Beat made 'small town boy' using nothing more than a Jupiter 8. The bass sound and pads are classic Jupiter 8 factory presets.

abducted 28.01.2006 08:55 PM

Hey thanks for all the replies ! I was abducted but now
I'm back on earth !
It's good to have different point of views.
I posted on so many forums that I didn't
remember this one is specialized on the virus....
And I must confess than I own a... supernova !
Anyway, let's move on to something else please...
Sound 21 ! How the recreate this incredibly fat
bass sound ? I can't get this sound out of my head !
It's an obsession really...

Logic Circuit 28.01.2006 09:52 PM

What is track 21?

It sounds Human League but I don't think it is.

abducted 28.01.2006 10:23 PM

It's Bobby O. (he must be a fan of the human league) :-)

Oh by the way, here is my emulation of sound no.3 on the
supernova :

http://www.angelfire.com/funky/zeltron1/sn.wav

Can you make better on the virus :?:

Drammy 29.01.2006 11:47 AM

I think so - your emulation is not bad at all, but perhaps a bit more coloured than the original...

Come on guys let show what the Virii can do!

abducted 29.01.2006 07:14 PM

Maybe you will manage to convince me to buy a virus and
sell my supernova !
Please post many virus emulations of all these sounds ...

~+? 29.01.2006 09:22 PM

Sounds like roland D50 to me, I may be wrong tho. :?

abducted 29.01.2006 09:47 PM

Sorry, can't be a D50 : this stuff is from 1982 !

The girl next door 29.01.2006 10:38 PM

And now for something Coooooompletely different
