Who's seen a good movie recently then?

My neighbour gave me his complete collection of err, downloaded movies 2 weeks ago. Mostly shite, but some surprises too:

Happy Endings (this stars Steve Coogan)
The Rookie (Disney movie, but a great story for kids and us wrinklies alike)
Sin City (I'd never even heard of it!)
Lost in Translation (Had to think of our own HC whilst watching this)

ten 02.08.2006 08:53 AM

Superman (shit - predicatable - good acting by main guy (looks lots like chris reeve)
Pirates of carribean 2 (not bad - drags a little in places - leaves you hanging at the end as there is a third one coming)
Miami vice (what a let down - awesome visuals and cinematography let down by weak plot and very slow at times)
My super ex-girlfriend (moderately humorous predictable comedy)
The worlds fastest indian (slightly older but what a film - awesome acting by sir tony hopkins - great (true!) story - feel good movie for the guys - awesome!)

Sin City is a stragely entertaining film. Its got an original feel to it.

One of my biggest recent dissapointments was a film called 'Serenity' What a load of drivel.

Havent seen much recently, but did see an Aussie movie starring whats his face... "Candy". Movie about smack heads.

Lost in translation? Fuck Im obsessed with that blonde bird...

And saw "Motorcycle Diaries" the other night, but will have to watch it again cos I was sick and passed out for most of the movie

Tomer=Trance 02.08.2006 12:55 PM

Am i one of the fews that doesnt download movies off the internet?

Personaly i havent seen a movie in months,
who can fucking afford going to the cinema anymore?!
Its like 10 dollars a ticket.

Timo 02.08.2006 01:05 PM

Can't remember the last time I went to a cinema either. It's way too loud, and the seats are the most uncomfortable ever, they're fucking awful.

And a little piece of popcorn ALWAYS gets stuck at the back of my throat so that I have a major coughing fit, lol.

Hollowcell 02.08.2006 01:22 PM

Good movies.....

I haven't seen anything new for along time now. Releases are always a fair while behind here.

I did see "lost in translation" though. Didn't think a lot of it, although understanding some of the Japanese being said created a bit more of an interesting feel to the movie. I've lived far more story worthy things here in real life!

There is something wrong with you. Seriously.

Did you watch Firefly (tv series) before seeing Serenity? If not then you made a mistake, as the series sets up the scene and explains a hell of a lot of what is going on.

Good movies I have seen recently...

Tristam Shandy (a cock and bull story) - stars Steve Coogan as well. Very post-modern and I really enjoyed it but won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Clerks 2 - funny as fuck, Kevin Smith at his best.

And one to avoid completely, Ultraviolet. DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE IT SUCKS IN EVERY WAY IMAGINABLE.

mr.e 02.08.2006 08:20 PM

lord of war, munich ...those are the 2 movies i've seen recently that I liked

Juho L 02.08.2006 08:25 PM

I hardly watch movies at all. Only few per year, and most of them are ones I've seen before. This year I haven't watched any new movies. With delicate deduction I come up to a conclusion that movies are low form of entertainment, or I'm lazy. I'd bet on the low form of entertainment choice.

Honestly, I'd go with the lazy option, there are great movies amongst a lot of shit, you just have to be picky :)

I saw "Jarhead" a few nights ago, very strange warmovie but really good.
Then I saw "Wedding Crashers" and why oh why do I always think of Alex when I see Will Ferrell?

I've seen 'loads' of films lately (more than usual anyways..). About ~2 movies / week (And I haven't downloaded one of them!)

And I am about the watch a kidshow I used to enjoy with the awesome title of: Captain Power and soldiers of the Future. And yes, I am only watching that show now because I wanna get a good screenshot of their "hawk/eagle"-logo which I will tattoo later on.

He dressed in his girlfriend's gear about a month or so ago, layed accross a Juno106 and the rest you can imagine. Don't have the link, but I think it made it into the golden threads section.

Ah, that would explain it. Here in the UK we still only have 5 channels of 'normal' TV. I dont have time for 1000's of channels...

That is one ugly pair of undies, Sebastian.

It was a real breath of fresh air after seeing hundreds of predictable hollywood movies!
