Access Virus|TI2 and OS 3 Announced...

http://www.access-music.de/events/20...virus_ti2.html

just bought my snow and still have to receive it... i just hope the added features are supported by it too...

oh, btw, hi to everyone... :D im a newbie!

UPDATE: After a more complete look through the site - "The best news, however, is that OS3 is compatible with all legacy Virus TIs and the Virus TI Snow" YAY!

geofx 15.01.2009 09:27 AM

I am not very excited with the..."new" Virus Ti series!:(

Ceri JC 15.01.2009 09:33 AM

Yes, says OS3 should be available by the time you read this (it's not yet), so it should hopefully appear imminently. Can't wait to try it, I love tape delay; Only last night I was thinking how annoying it was I needed to make a note of my ER-20's settings in notes on a track, rather than being able to save it within the fx sections of the TI's patches. The "character" aspect sounds interesting too.

Ceri JC 15.01.2009 09:36 AM

Ooooh, nice new VC skin. Looks more like a Snow/Polar than the classic virus red and black, very nice. Should help further psychologically blur the lines between the screen and the device. :D

Cannot find what is exactly in OS3.....kan somebody give me the insights of it over here...

You want to go here:
http://www.access-music.de/events/20...virus_ti2.html
Then go to "Videos", they detail lots of the new features.

IamEvil 15.01.2009 10:31 AM

So it's just an OS update for all the Ti range ?

Not much in the way of added hardware apart from slightly boosted DSP power

I was expecting Firewire... Ti

oh well, atleast it doesn't devalue my Ti sale price too much

h4nc0 15.01.2009 10:38 AM

I hope that it's 64bit compatible.

Totty 15.01.2009 10:51 AM

So will OS3 be for the original TI, i haven't quite worked that one out:)

telson 15.01.2009 11:01 AM

I am not very excited too ... :(
i prefer much more virus TI-1

cYrus 15.01.2009 11:34 AM

so do the TI1 user get all the new software features aswell?! awesome! :D

Tx....looked over it...duh...

Totty 15.01.2009 12:29 PM

Unless i've missed it, I haven't seen mention that the original TI's do, but I should imagine they will...I hope!

Prime NL 15.01.2009 12:49 PM

Maybe it's in the videos...???

Totty 15.01.2009 12:51 PM

Hope so! I'm not buying a new one with that little difference, thats for sure!

Ceri JC 15.01.2009 01:02 PM

Totty, it says in the text that all existing TI machines, including the Snow will support OS3.

plaid_emu 15.01.2009 01:05 PM

My biggest concern is the quantizing/timing issues I'm still having with the original TI. Is OS 3.0 going to fix this or is the new MKII DSP the only hope? They have all this drivel in the new product PDF about "sample accurate MIDI timing". I only get accurate MIDI timing on 2/3 of the sounds. Other sounds and lots of arp patches are all out of whack. I don't think I'm alone on this either.

I'm starting to think Access jumped the gun here. They should've waited for USB 3.0 and added 50% more DSP power.

My bad, sorry - in my hungry haste for info I skimmed that!! Hooray!!

Same here, timing isn't sample accurate here either. Here's hoping for a miracle cure in OS3

Doc Jones 15.01.2009 01:08 PM

So the TI2 still uses usb1 connections. perplexing.

seanpace 15.01.2009 01:16 PM

After watching the videos and learning of the new features and effects (ie. Sidechain input via USB :D :D :D) I am very happy with the way access have come out with this. Now all we need is for them to make it available/downloadable.

ooooooohhhh. I didn't catch that. Very nice.

brambos 15.01.2009 01:42 PM

Great news!!

My Virus is made of w00t!

seanpace 15.01.2009 01:56 PM

its all good to know about it, but where is it, give it to us!! I just wanna test it out!!! - wats the bet they only release it on sunday hahaha

synthman1 15.01.2009 02:05 PM

The revised TI line looks wonderful, but where is the Flash RAM for user definable multi-samples already???!!!!

I've only been requesting it since the Virus A! The trend is quickly moving in this direction with the capability to use samples in the Blofield Keyboard, Nord Wave and Solaris. More will follow and it makes sense. I really, hope Access final implemented this feature and just hasn't unveiled it yet.

Someone crack open a TI MKII and let us know if it's there!

Splat! 15.01.2009 02:15 PM

w00t New OS3 looks brilliant.
I just got a Snow a month back :-)

Now hopefully Roland releases a V-synth GT OS update too...

EDIT: The pubic beta is out for download

Aw man, the new VC looks awesome. I just got my snow and can't stand the look of the VC software, was hoping the interface would get an upgrade...

Just downloaded the 3.0 beta... Anyone try it out yet, a little weary about trying it out and killing my machine or something...

marc 15.01.2009 02:37 PM

a public beta is available as of now.

here's a couple of things i'd like to mention: OS3 is available for the entire Ti series including the snow. we could have easy limited it to the new TI but we didn't for a simple reason. it's really old fashion and not beneficial for anybody (including us). so treat it as a gift :)

the TI is in for the long run, in other words - there will be updates to the entire series as long as it is technically feasible.

best regards,

marc

ps. our entire support team is on the NAMM. please understand that there might be increased turnaround times for the ticket for the next couple of days.

Splat! 15.01.2009 02:39 PM

Thanks a lot Access Team. You guys are brilliant! :-D

trying to install the new OS3...

It loads the VC software but doesn't update the synths OS ?

any ideas?

h4nc0 15.01.2009 02:45 PM

Thanks, marc. Downloading...

IamEvil, it updates fine here.

IamEvil 15.01.2009 02:53 PM

I had to go into virus control centre and update from there...

seanpace 15.01.2009 02:56 PM

Access & Marc thank you for keeping us in the light with this, as far as I'm concerned I'm very greatfull for Access's after sales customer service & support. You guys do a fantastic job and have solid CRM

With that said, Id like to hear feedback on OS 3 before i jump into it as I have a gig on saturday and cant afford any hickups ;)

ens 15.01.2009 03:10 PM

Tested new OS on snow, this is what I got. Updated fine, everything was installed without a hitch. Opened in Ableton 7.12 on macbook, tested the new effects with a init patch, sounded good through my onboard laptop speakers (people are sleeping right now, can't listen on my monitors).

I left the new Freq Shifter on set to freq shift, went to turn on a hyper saw and I got no sound.

Turned off the freq shifter still no sound.

Tried to open up another patch no sound, clicked around then i got this really crazy digital sound flying all over the place in pitch and timbre.

Patches won't load correctly and mostly don't make sound.

IamEvil 15.01.2009 03:16 PM

my Ti has finished updating...

The synth seems to be working fine , had a bit of a play with the new EQ modes and stereo widening.. Also a quick run through the new distortion types..

nice additions to the syth , nice one !

I've not got a PC connected to test the VC part

Timo 15.01.2009 03:20 PM

So, the only hardware difference between the TI and TI2 is 1.25x the DSP (25% additional poly)?

No additional controllers (ribbon-controller/XY-pad/joystick), no high-speed USB2/firewire, no step/mod-seq, no customisable waveforms, no new oscillators, no additional filters...

If the DSP alone had followed Moore's Law, it'd be 4x the DSP [400% poly] of the original TI mk1).

Bit disappointing after five years. =/

cYrus 15.01.2009 03:23 PM

firs bug found here: the EQs doesn't work through VC here. when i use the virus itself to adjust the eq they work as expected.

Prime NL 15.01.2009 03:24 PM

On a Mac will it update over OS 2.7.5...or do i need to throw away some stuff first...???

oblivion 15.01.2009 03:25 PM

Virus TI Snow now up to 110 voices!!! yeeeeees great news! but why only USB 1.0???????? noooooooo!

Access if you read this? go back put in USB 2.0 and then release PLEASE!!!!!

I really hope that this version is less expensive, otherwice they should have put in a 50-60% increase in DSP, USB 2.0 or Firewire 400, double the Voice count to 200 Voice polyphony and name it the "REAL Total Integration"

I am not angry, I just cant understand not using USB 2.0???

HVX 15.01.2009 03:27 PM

As long as they didn't replace the Fatar action with one from CME, this might be my first Virus.
