Winter NAMM 2010 - TI OS 4 Announced

Winter NAMM 2010 - A new decade, a new TI OS

TI OS v4

Announced for all Virus TI|1 (inc. Snow) and TI|2 series.

UPDATE - TI OS v4 now available for free download from the Access site »Click«

The substantial incremental OS upgrade looks to include six new modelled "stomp box" distortion/overdrive effects [Mint, Curry, Saffron, Onion, Pepper and Chilli - each a nod toward the colours of famous vintage pedals] along with a separate Speaker Cabinet character model, two brand new Vowel and Comb filter effects, and lastly full step-sequencer modulation capability via Arp-to-ModMatrix.

The new year brings a new Winter NAMM show! - Showcasing all new up and coming products, the WNAMM trade show runs from Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th January at the Anaheim Convention Centre in California, USA.

Access-Music are there, and can once again be located in Hall A, booth #6900 - [See Map]

I think it might get released today in the next couple of hours. it says: "

OS4 will become available shorty and is a free update for all Virus TI users."

I'm hoping. Well anyway, I'm spoiled. I'll be expecting a new major os every year at namm. I think I like the arp feature the most. But the stomp boxes made me hungry (they're named after spices).

Yes, the step sequencing looks superb. Plenty of scope with that feature.

Trying to determine the stomp box originals. I'm not familiar with too many guitar pedals, but here are my current thoughts:

Mint = Ibanez Tube Screamer
Curry = MXR Distortion+?
Saffron = Boss DS-1/DS-2 Distortion
Onion = Arion SDI-1, or Boss Turbo OD-2?
Pepper = Pro Co Rat?
Chilli = Dunlop Fuzzface

Any ideas?

Mint should be great. I always use a little freeware VST plugin called Screamer (from SimulAnalog Guitar Suite) modelled on the same pedal which gives some great distinctive tone.

I wonder how much of an advantage the TI2 will have over the TI due to its higher processing power. I'm afraid my TI might not be able to handle everything I throw at it...

damn... the demo :mrgreen:

according to kvraudio.com
with "shortly" they mean "Q1/2010"... so don't expect it anytime soon...

Cant wait, we are very lucky to own hardware that is so well supported by its manufacturer.

Given that the original TI was released in Nov 2005, do you reckon it's likely this will be the last of the big OS updates before a new hardware model comes out? It's hard to imagine that Access wouldn't be putting out a new (not updated) Virus within the next two years.

I don't know. I would think so, but they just put out the TI2 last year so the TI line has to have a few more years in it. This means nothing but the virus C went up to os 6.5 so maybe we'll get a couple more major updates. Who knows... I was happy with os3 and am ecstatic with os4...

The new Arp to Matrix is awesome! I can't believe that my Snow is still seeing new features. F-in fantastic!

Marc said in the official forums that TI2 is not a new line but a revision and I don't think there is a connection between their (marketing) plans and version numbers :P maybe they got to 6.5 with the previous line when they realised 'TI' is a good idea and I'm really sure that they'll come up with a new horde of beasts in 2-3 years...(WhiteOut Keyboard, please!) and that new line will balance all extremist opinions about the Virus (I hear from many people they're absolutely satisfied with their TIs polyphony/stability-wise and I hear the opposite from still many).

It's good to see a synth manufacturer indeed, that comes up with OS updates packed with newer and newer functions regularly.

and again, can't wait to see a loooooooong coverage video from NAMM :rolleyes:
