Logic has "locked" a Virus Control instance

Hi

I'm using the latest OS 3 update on my Virus Ti Keyboard and Logic Pro 8, with the latest updates.

I have a simple project with a few tracks where, no matter which track I try to open the Virus Control on, I get a message from the Virus Control saying that I already have an instance open and need to close it.

How do I find this other instance of the Virus Control so I can close it?

I have tried deleting all the Instrument tracks and restarting Logic, but it doesn't help.

If I create a brand new project in Logic, the Virus Control works there on a new track.

Any ideas?
/Martin

No one?

I thought this was an easy one for the experts... How to find and close an open Virus Control instance? :)

I have already read the setup PDF for Logic and the Virus Control.

So, not exactly the answer I was looking for, but thanks anyway.

Been a few years since ive used Logic. Is there a VST Instrument list or panel the same way as there is in Cubase? Thats where you control your Virus Control instance and all the other VSTs, you can only open one instance of VC, then just use the MIDI ch numbers to assign parts 1-16.

Check all channel instances and make sure there is no Virus Control open for any of them (check your Midi In-Out routing to see whats going where). If the VC is already open it may just be tabbed away somewhere. Check all your windows, and dig around.

Thanks a lot for the reply.

I don't think there is such a panel in Logic.

I assign a AU/VST by selecting the relevant track and assigning it there.

I have deleted all the tracks, made a new one and tried to assign VC there. It still complains about an open instance.

I have check for open windows, but there's only my main window open.

Hmm?

I think I found it now in "Window / Environment", in Logic.

There's an overview of all tracks and there was some "weird" VC stuff there :)

Thanks...

Sounds like it might be worth the hour or two to run through some Logic tutorials or read the help files. It's time well spent, and relieves so much frustration down the line.

Obviously VC must still be running and open, and as is stated in the Virus manuals quite clearly,

It is not possible to open more then one instance in your sequencer, and as such you should not attempt to do so.
