Waldorf Attack and Waldorf Rackattack, what difference?

Yes I know one's software and ones hardware, but does anyone know what difference there is with the sound? If they sound the same, then why doesn't everyone just get the software version?

Sound cards and 1/4 inch jacks.

Latency. Dedicated controller.
