I would definetly go for the G2 if I were you. G2 is the machine for psytrance, yeah it's a modular. You can make really complex sounds on it. Go to electro-music.com by mosc and check some mp3 of the patches there. You can create pretty much anything on it. Btw, anybody checked the
ridiculohyper patch by Tim, hehe (1 saw in and you get 126 saws out). You can create your own grain modules using the double and quad delay modules and stuff. V 1.4 is going to add the new patch mutator. If you use some delay modules and reverbs on it, your end signal will be 16bit, some people get very mad about this. You can create your own wavetables, filterbanks, analog delays, string osc(physical modelling), Vocoders and it will mangle you audio like  . If you want hands on control, I recommend the 3 oct kb. The only problem that I have with my G2 is that it's 4 part multitimbrality. (btw, I have the exp board too)

Should I sell my TR909 and buy a G2? I do love my 909 8) but it's started to collect dust now and I worry about the ageing board. Just thinking of selling it makes my heart miss a beat lol. I have heard the G2 makes nice Psy kiks is it true? :D

Found this very nice theremin track on that site you posted love it. http://electro-music.com/forum/download.php?id=3394

Psytrance is not about the gadgets at all. It's all about production. Dark psy used lots of fx plugins, most soft synths. Lots of the older dudes are switchin it up to plugins as well. It's all in the techniques of production.

If you worry about what gear you need, you will miss the point of developing your skill. Between your virus, waldorf, good converters, and a few good drum sample libraries you can top the charts for years. Learning your instruments will bring you closer to making good psytrance than any synth. I hunted for psy gear for years and purchased all the synths I thought I needed. I ended up using them for a bit until I got to the point where as long as I had my virus and an analog synth to match, i was good to go.

For me. SH-101, Virus TI, and Ableton.

There was a minimal/progressive tack on beatport eariler this year that featured an operatic vocal. I really liked it. I'm at work right now but I'll post the track name when I get home.

I reckon it'll work. Personally for me though it would fail if it went to close the the adagio for strings remix type sound that's already been done. Then again I could be wrong about that, it always depends on the actual track.

Edit: Track is Deepfear by Sidekick (Andrea Roma Remix)

I have to agree it's not really about the gadgets but more about the production.......i think to make good psytrance you have to be clever with the arangement and the effects you use. of course you need good sounds to build on. ;)
I went out and purchased a load of equipment thinking it was going to solve everything but i quickly realised I was the weak link, the only way is to keep persevering and learning learning.
