Psytrance

i like some of it, but feel that much of it has gotten a bit cheesy crappy nonsense...emulations rather than creations.

However I stumbled across these guys lately and think their great.

You can download both their albums for free via the site

I've got both those albums, they are very tasty.

You are right, a lot of current psy is very formulaic particularly the israeli full on rubbish.

Still some good stuff coming out, recent good albums are Prometheus - Corridor of Mirrors, OOOD - Free Range and KoxBox - U-Turn.

Far out didn't know there was anew Logic Bomb album in the works, those guys are fantastic.

If we are plugging the Prog side of psy you can't go wrong with some Antix or Son Kite or pretty much anything off the Iboga Records label.

Israeli full-on has become a horrid parody of itself but there is still some good stuff coming out. The new Nano Record compilation Origin Stage 3 is pretty good.

Full On can be corny but its lots of fun at an event. When we comment that its losing its charm or a parody, we should appreciate that we are watching a style evolve right in front of us. Most styles are pretty static now - including Prog although its my favourite. Hearing all the latest releases as a style flourishes, matures and settles into a plateau of stability or decay is pretty cool and at least for me doesn't happen very often. Before psyshop.com and local home grown psytrax.com, I just couldn't get the latest sounds.

Cheers,
B

I saw Freq in london at the begining of last year, well middle actually, was very cool, although his set seemd a little lack luster, maybe because he didnt play till 5am, agh well was still good :)
